Transplant clinic Golden Jubilee

Hi all I was at my clinic appointment yesterday it was like a lovely social gathering, everyone catching up with each other, a blether with my nurse and finally my consultant who no one even noticed when he came to get people, he just laughed at his happy patients😊. He is an amazing Doctor and so caring. My blood pressure is too high at 160/100 so back on the pills. I told him that I still haven't received my follow up appointment re my bowel cancer and the secretary never returned my calls, it's now been 6 months. He is going to contact the surgeon about it and somehow I don't think they will ignore him. I just want it over with so I can be assured that they got everything during surgery.

Back to clinic in 3 month's for a scan MRI I think. Char x

morning Char,

That’s great news, how’s the Jubilee doing 😂 I have no doubt your surgeon will put a firework in the works and you will get your follow up. Sorry blood pressure is not behaving, but it’s better you have to take the tablets to get it under control. I know more tablets 😩.

Love Pauline x

Hi it was great to see everyone anyone passing must have wondered if we were actual transplant patients 😅.I was hoping my blood pressure had went down but no joy, it was fine until my surgery in February and it's been high ever since. I don't know what he has prescribed yet I just hope it doesn't get too low again.

When are you off on your cruise, you must be really looking forward to it. I hope you are keeping well. Char xx

Not on my cruise until May 2025, so a long time to go! Had my echo 2 weeks ago, everything was fine Hurrah 😂 I was sat next to a lady in the waiting room she was waiting for ECG very nervous, asked me if I was having one too, explained no an echo turned out her mum had a tissue valve for 19 years! She died aged 91. Was saying this to the technician doing the echo and she was saying, it’s not unheard of. Must admit to being very surprised hearing that. It would be great if mine lasted that long 😂

Pouring with rain here this morning, so weather is as expected 😂

Take care of yourself. Let us know when you hear about your cancer check up.

Definitely something to look forward to it will be here before you know it.That is a really long time for a tissue valve, well done to the lady living to 91 with it. The rain and wind have been awful today, shocking for this time of year the schools will be back soon and the kids have hardly had a nice day. Char xx

They will go back and the weather will be lovely in September! My granddaughter went back to Australia on Monday 😥 being honest the time she spent in Scotland the weather was perfect couldn’t have been better. Pauline x

6 months that's a long time to wait for a follow up appointment after such a big surgery, I really hope you get the bowel cancer surgery follow up soon, all this waiting around just adds to the stress and can't be good for your blood pressure. It's great to hear you have such a wonderful heart surgeon and a catch up with others is really good 😊 xx

Hi every day I have been checking the post looking for a hospital letter and when the secretary ignored my calls I wasn't sure what to do next, I am so glad my consultant is going to chase it up although he shouldn't really have to I think he has enough to do in cardiology without chasing up another hospital. I was a bit gutted my blood pressure hadn't dropped but I kind of new it was high, hopefully the pills will work without too many side effects. I was on spironolatone before and my ankles got really swollen so he has prescribed something else. Char

It was just a lovely cheery clinic the hospital volunteers really lovely people were there as well, they give up so much time to help others. There is a program on Chanel 5 filmed in my hospital, my consultant and nurse are both in it, it was funny seeing them on the telly. You are never sure when waiting on an appointment if you have been lost in the system or they just haven't got round to you yet so I am happy that the jubilee are going to chase them up as I was getting nowhere.

I hope you are feeling a bit better now and the antibiotics have worked there magic. Take care char xx

Hello :-)

It sounds like it was lovely :-)

I can imagine it was strange seeing them on TV but a feeling of pride as well :-)

I would like to think no news is good news as they say and if those results were not good they would have been back to you by now but glad they are chasing it up for you :-)

Thank you for asking about me I wished I could say I felt better but honestly I don't if only I had half your strength but I haven't

Fingers crossed you get those results soon and all will be good you deserve it :-) x

Hi I was there for nearly three hours and it flew by. They have a transplant lunch at Christmas and it is a lovely social occasion.Sorry to hear that you are still not feeling too good antibiotics can knock you for six especially if you got thrush as well no wonder you feel so down.

The surgeon said I still have polyps on the left side and they have to be removed, I am definitely not looking forward to that but I just want it over and done with. Take care char xx
