Today marks the first anniversary of my triple heart bypass. So grateful for the treatment I received and the support I have received from family and friends. My body has recovered really well and apart from a little discomfort when coughing or sneezing looking forward to the future.

Feeling emotional and tearful today thinking of what might have been. I am sure tomorrow will bring the positivity I have felt over the last year.

For anyone undergoing surgery or treatment, hang in there, listen to your body and accept help when you need it.

Hello :-)

It is an emotional time as well as something to be grateful for and Happy 1st Anniversary to you with many more to come :-)

Sometimes it can be easier said than done but try not to look at what could have been today but what you want to do in the days and years moving forward :-)

I hope you have a lovely day and be kind to yourself :-) x

Hi Rubyzog,What a lovely post! and so encouraging and uplifting!

I am 18 months post op from my double cabg , and although the NHS is in an awful state just now, I am so very grateful to the surgeon who performed my operation. I honestly don't know where I would be right now if I hadnt had my procedure. My condition is genetic, and so it was bound to be my turn eventually!! You don't think about it when your young and fit though do you? All the females in my family have had heart related problems. I'm well now though, and just so blessed and happy to be alive. My scar is my badge of honour and is worm with pride!! I hope you have many many years ahead of you, and I hope I do too!! CONGRATULATIONS!! and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY🥰

Thank you so much for your post and I am pleased for you too. It is genetic in our family too, I am 65 now and always thought I was the lucky one as had very few problems other than routine coughs and colds etc. it was a huge shock at the time. But as you said my scar is my badge of honour, and I look forward to every day 🙂
