I have an appointment for a CPET on June 2nd, requested by my cardiologist and respiratory consultant due to symptoms on exertion . Friday and today when I was walking to collect our daughter from school I could tell my heart was going faster than normal , today I had left sided chest pain then could feel my heart was going faster , checked it on my watch and it said hr was 130 when I was walking on level ground and I’d only left the house 2/3 minutes ago . Pain stopped when I stood still and hr slowed. I’m unsure whether it’s ok to wait until I’ve had the test and see my consultants or if I should get medical advice sooner it it happens again ? Just don’t want to waste anyone’s time as I have my test next week

Slightly concerned about cardiac symptoms today
Hi Westie2012
I’m sorry to hear you’re still experiencing the same symptoms.
As it was accompanied by left sided chest pain today, I think the very least you should be doing is calling 111. I appreciate the test is not very far away now, but it is the safest option you have at the moment.
They will be able to do an ECG and your bloods at the hospital. They may even be able to give you some pain relief depending on how bad the pain is. Please don’t delay and try and seek some medical attention tonight.
All the best.
Tos x
Thank you so much , as I was ok last night I’m going to see if it happens again the next time I walk to the school , I am reluctant to get advice as my symptoms passed quickly , also a the comments and attitude of a very unpleasant consultant that I had to see on the department I was sent to last time I was sent to hospital has put me off from seeking advice incase I end up being g sent to the sane place . I’m ok today thankfully but it’s in the afternoon when I had the symptoms . I really appreciate your reply x
I’ve also had a handful of doctors in A&E who haven’t always been very pleasant however, you should try and let it not discourage you from going back. The last thing you want is to be seriously poorly and not have attended the hospital where you could get life-saving treatment. Hope you have a better week x
best to get checked as Tis says. A and E will take blood and be able to see if Troponin levels are up they won't mind!
Hi Westie
Sorry to hear you’re still having trouble with these ongoing symptoms.
Given your cardiac history and as Tos and Rosy G have both said, I would agree and say phone 111. They are best placed to discuss everything with you and ensure you are directed to the most appropriate care you require; if this happens again don’t delay and make the call.
Wishing you all the best for the 2nd, hope you get some answers afterwards that help get you feeling better 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Keep us posted!
Best wishes

Hi westie2012Sorry to hear your not feeling well. Would definitely suggest mentioning to gp or maybe do 111 online and see what they advice x your appointment for cpet is coming up soon hopefully that will give your cardiologist a bit more of an idea what's happening with your heart when exercising x keep us all updated how you get on take care ❤️
Hi Westie, PLEASE don't worry about "wasting their time", I felt exactly the same as you, almost afraid to be seen as a time waster or thinking any complaint might be trivial. During recovery from the by-pass every doctor or medical professional I spoke with repeatedly told me that if I was at all concerned about anything, to get in touch with them as they'd much prefer it. I definitely think you should give your GP a call or even call 111 even if it's just for reassurance. Take care, Carol
Hi Westie2012,Anything to do with the heart I wouldn't take any chances on!! I would definitely seek advice ebmven though you have an appointment soon. Better safe than sorry. Take care
This is clearly anginal pain - If it's new onset - or has changed in character - or is coming on at a lower exertional threshold than previously then you need to go to hospital immediately. Do not waste time with 111. Go to nearest Emergency Department. Go now.
I'd call 111 and let them decide.
I am at home recovering from a mild stroke at age 53years. From watching the tv this week it shows that doctors in some surgeries do not treat heart problems in women as seriously as men and 33% of cases women are more likely to have more serious complications. The research also stated women are more likely to ignore the pain and just put it down to indigestion and get on with looking after the kids etc. If in any doubt and increased tiredness and pain and heart rate are all signs of possible heart problems. I would advise dialling 111 getting advice and get back to A and E. You will get prioritised at A and E if you have chest pain and even quicker if going in by ambulance. My advice is you know yourself best and keep going back if you are worried. You will not be wasting anyone's time. Good luck
