I was diagnosed with severe heart failure in October 2023 after an echo . Since then I have had great support from the cardiac team at my local hospital. I take bisoporol (10 mg) ramipril 7.5 ml - digoxin 175 mls furosmide 5 ml and exoban. I had a follow up echo last week and my ejection factor has improved and I have moved from severe to moderate. I have to continue with the medication and have a follow up appointment with the Cardiologist at the end of the year. I feel so much better

My story is very similar, ardgay. Hospitalised with EF 29% in January and recent echo shows 40% so gone from severe to moderate with the medication regime. I was told there is still scope for further improvement too. So yes, it's a good feeling! X

Brilliant news, so very pleased for you, hopefully your EF will continue to improve.

At one point my husband's EF improved from 30, severe HF to 51, mild HF.

With today's medication anything is possible 🤞

thanks - yes At first I struggled with some of the side effects but persevered and it has definitely paid off 😀

can I ask what sort of side affects you had, I know we're all different. I'm awaiting test results at the moment, cartherterisation on 17 July. I'm dreading taking medication as I'm so anti drug, & don't take meds very well. Glad you are feeling better.

some of the medication at first caused cold fingers and feet and itchy skin but it depends on what you are on. My heart team were good at changing anything that was causing side effects

Hi ardgay, great to hear you feel much better. My echo revealed I was in the severe category for heart muscle failure with an EF of 25%. I am on great meds and feel really well, but I won't know if my EF has improved until I meet with my consultant in the middle of next year. Keep well.

Thank you. Hope it does improve for you. I had great support from the heart failure team and the meds obviously helped.

Great support is really important. I see my cardiac nurse every 6 months and she is so helpful and lovely. Makes you feel better and safer when the support is there.

That is good news. Modern meds can work wonders. I went from 20% to 60% over a couple of years, and would be doing great if it wasn't for the arthritic hip!!! It never rains but it pours.

thank you - I hope you can get your hip sorted

What is appropriate for me might not be right for your condition. I started off on bisoprolol and ramipril, and they tried others at different doses to find what I could tolerate. Your cardiologist should be best placed to know what would help you.

I have also had a pacemaker fitted which must have made a difference. I hope you find the best treatment for you.

Hello there, well done to you mate. The key to getting better and feeling good is a positive mind set with this condition. I am so happy for you keep it up buddy. I too am a heart failure patient, I am living my best life, working, driving making everything and everyday counts. Main thing also is to listen to our bodies and learn our new limitations.
