Constant migraines 😣💔

I have been prescribed sumatriptan 50mg again because of the constant migraines I'm getting there so horrible and last all day and some times 3 days 💔.Does anyone else with congenital heart disease and heart valve disease suffer from this ( possible chronic fatigue aswell, gp is trying to get me a referral to a clinic).

that’s sounds really difficult to cope with, migraines are pants. I’ve got no advise unfortunately to help but very much hope the doctors can help you. ❤️

Thanks hun it's awful I constantly have a headache I don't even know what's triggering it 💔. Migraines cause really intense nausea aswell but fortunately not actually sick 🙏.

Oh - the feeling your going to be sick i think is worse, at least once your sick - better out than in.

From an early age I had my first migraine and I get the aura with it to it was so frightening

Then I continued getting them about 4 times a year till I reached about 40 and then I started getting as much as 1 a week I was lucky if I went 4 weeks and as you know a migraine is not a headache as some who have never suffered think they are they are something else and leave you so drained after they have passed

I even could be just getting over a migraine and another one would start they really took over my life

When I had my first heart attack I was then 57 and the cocktail of medications they put me on I am not sure which one it may be or if it is one of them but it was like a miracle happened and the migraines stopped to now so far just getting the odd one which I can cope with but feel for you as I know what it is like when you are getting them often

So I am really not sure if migraines are related to heart disease or not but I hope you get your referral soon and they find the cause which could be numerous things that could be triggering them of and of course stress and worry can be two things that do not help when you suffer from them

ever since I started taking clopidogrel my migraines eased to just one every few months. When I have to stop that drug the migraines start up again.

No more migraine was a pretty big benefit. Initially after a stroke but continued after heart surgery.

I refuse to let migraine win. Clopidogrel helps me do this.

I have heart valve leaks and lifelong migraines. Triptans work well but don't over use them. I think you can only really manage migraine not cure it. I am 2 generations older than you so have been able to stop work and take more rest.

Here's some of what I learned.

Food sensitivities make it worse, but it's a long hard slog identifying each one. A plain simple diet is best.

Sunshine, bright light, noise, heat and lack of oxygen make it worse.

Sleepiness and extreme hunger and craving sweet food is a sign of a migraine coming on. If you possibly can lie down quietly, or walk outside in cold air.

The modern world is everything you don't need, so be more mediaeval!

Thanks hun thats really helpful x I have no choice I have to take them tablets every day at the moment says take whenever you have a migraine and for me that's every day at the moment.

Hi Yumz, Back to when I was younger I used to have migraines, the frequency increased over the years until they seemed virtually daily in the months prior to my first valve surgery. I used to have migraleve tablets at hand at all times. I was lucky in that once I had the surgery the migraines stopped completely.

A bit like dejavu for me that they didnt return until the months preceeding my second surgery, so about 18years without them. Again they ceased after my second/third surgery so I'm now 10years or so migraine free....

In my case there was a link between being congenital and the severity of my stenosis, which was ultimately broken by surgery.

I hope you dont suffer them for as long as I did and they can find an answer.

I cant say any palpitations I had at the time were associated with migraines, I'd say they were more in keeping with the stenosis as it worsened. As for chest pains, I've been lucky to never have them at all.

It wouldn't do any harm to mention it to your cardiologist.

I knew my second valve op was due a few weeks before it was confirmed by an echo, because the migraines had restarted. My body just knew it was time.

Wow that's cool how well you know your own body! ❤️ Wish I knew mine that well, I have mentioned the migraines to my consultant before because one time I got one and it lasted for 3 days and I had constant palpitations was awful, he said next time that happens to go straight to A&E. So they must think it's something or they wouldn't of suggested that?? 🤔. Definitely gona mention at my check up in November though because there constant and really intense 💔.

I was having daily migraines with aura and on occasions 3 aura in a day. I've been prescribed pizotifen, which has prevented them. It doesn't interact with any of my 23 other prescribed meds. I think you need a migraine prevention medication rather than just a treatment when you get one.

oh dear sorry to hear this , migraines are rotten.

I too have been getting this & Gp reckons it’s a side affect of some af medication which I need to remain on . I have sumitriptan medication but the nasal spray, so much better as it works within 20 mins ! My husband who also suffers more severely has the sumatriptan sub cut injections when he has an attack which works within 8 mins … they are brilliant.

That said if yours are in clusters then a preventative medication may be wise to explore as well.

Dear Yumz, sorry to hear about migraines lasting so long. You might be allergic to caffeine or a food. I have a similar condition to you, regarding a faulty heart valve. Kind regards, rabbit55.

Hi there. I too suffer with migraines and had a heart valve repair about 16years ago. Since then have developed AF and take Bisoprolol, Rivaroxaban and Flecainide. I was experiencing migraines every couple of days and someone suggested soluble aspirin 75mg. I tried this and guess what, no migraine. I stopped the Aspirin and the migraines returned. I tried this a few times and the same thing happened. I have since discovered taking an Aspirin every couple of days does the trick. I spoke to my consultant about this and he said he had heard this from someone else. I can’t say this will work for you but it’s worth a try. Let me know how you get on if you do give it a go.
