Hi,almost 4 months after my heart attack and stent fitting I've still got the rather annoying noise or'whooshing' sound in my left ear.Any other experiences on this, does it ever go away? Or lessen...can't hear it during the day as background noise drowns this out,but night time is frustrating...thanks in advance.

You sound like you have the onset of tinnitus. I have had it for many years. Mine is a constant hiss in both ears. For many it can become a real nuisance, others like me just learn to live with it. It could be caused by any new medication you have been prescribed, so if you believe that is so talk to your GP, or a pharmacist Otherwise unfortunately there is apparently not a lot you can do about it. adding to what Lowerfield says. There is an edition within Health Unlocked on tinnitus. You might want to browse on there.

Your best source of information is the website of Tinnitus UK. Lots of tips and tricks, and a really good explanation.

My experience isn't the same but I had jaundice in 2017 caused by 2 tablets I had been taking since 1992 for my neurological condition. It left me hearing my heart beat in my left ear . I woke one morning hearing a bump bump noise took me a while to realise what it is . It's annoying but learned to live with it . It was a bit frightening at first as I can hear when I miss heart beats . And when I had over done things a my heart works harder and hearing the thumps faster and louder. But I always try and find a positive from a negative so I know my heart is still working.

The whooshing you are hearing is probably your blood pumping round your body. Its annoying but you will get used to it. I look at this way at least I know I am still alive and if I suddenly didn't hear it after all this time I would be worried. I have been in pain since a young child in my limbs if I was suddenly pain free I would think I was dieing.

Our bodies do strange things but the main thing is we are still alive .

Hi, This sounds to me (NOT an expert) more like pulsatile tinnitus, which strictly speaking is not tinnitus at all. Have a look at Whooshers.com. There is also a Whooshers Facebook group. I have this constantly. Usually it is quite quiet but sometimes very loud. It's always worse at night. I get numerous ectopic beats which I can clearly hear as well as feel.

Thanks...had others say pulsatile tinnitus and is very common with artery issues...guess I'll just have to learn to live with it
