Good morning all. I’m on the train to London to see my surgeon for post op check and going back to work tomorrow if he gives me the green light 😊. I’ve been continuing to walk lots and feel very well. The only problem I still have is getting the warfarin level high enough and taking ages to fall asleep as my heart noise is so loud!
Will walk from Victoria to St Barts which is nearly 3 miles. Hope I don’t get too soaked!
Hope everyone is well and happy this Monday morning!
Really pleased you're doing so well. Had my check up last week and going back to work on 30th. Had x-ray and ecg at my check up and then saw doctor (not my surgeon) for less than 10 mins. Said everything was fine and discharged me from their care back to Lincoln hospital. Thought I was going down with the lurgy over the weekend and would need to go to docs today, sore throat and annoying dry cough, but sore throat only lasted a day and cough virtually gone now.
I'm lucky with my warfarin, has stayed pretty stable throughout at about 2.7. Glad I've got the home testing machines though, much more convenient.
Hope you're going to treat yourself to something nice whilst in London. 😉
Sounds like you are doing really well and I am sure the surgeons will be delighted with your progress.
My AVR operation was performed at the end of May 2017 and I really only hear my valve as I go to sleep and when I wake up now. I did go through a period when I had had my beta blocker stopped and kept waiting for arrhythmias to occur but they did not happen and I have therefore been able to relax a bit.
Regarding warfarin it has taken from May until December for my INR to settle down and my Christmas present was no blood test for six weeks! Unfortunately I know that I will be having prophylactic antibiotics at the end of this month which will screw the numbers once more...
Hope you stay dry, here in Linlithgow (nr Edinburgh) , we have blue skies and sunshine but it is very chilly, snow is on the way....
Thanks all. Got soaked! All fine though and back to work tomorrow. Before the operation it took me an hour and a quarter to walk Victoria to Barts took just less than an hour now! So it must be the new valve allowing me to walk faster 😊. It’s my 50th birthday on 28th Jan so I’m going to be celebrating in big style.

Hi all. Just back from work. Half days only at first so it was pretty easy, just spent the time deleting emails! The alarm going off at 6:15 was the worst bit!
