Since having my CABG in march I keep getting this spasm which rocks my body. I can only describe it as like half a hiccup. It makes me make a weird noise and happens about 10 times an hour. Does anyone know what this could be?

Triple Bypass side effect.
Dear You
welcome to your first post and a very interesting one it is as well.
Yes I have suffered with this and I was told that it was due to the damaged done to the Vagus nerve and it took a good six months for the tummy wobbling hiccuping situation to calm down.
Then when I had the Pacemaker fitted it started again , but after adjustment it went.
Hope that my personal experience is of any help to you
Take care
Thank you for your response. I will look into the Vagus nerve as I havent been able to find any info on what I am experiencing.

If its any help
Hi slsfairy, I'm sorry I can't help as this didn't happen to me after my bypasses - sounds uncomfortable so say the least! Just wanted to welcome you to the forum and I'm sure someone with a lot more knowledge than me will be along to help soon. Carol
I’m afraid I am unable to help you but just to let you know my husband has the same thing after his quintuple bypass. Not as frequently but many times a day. It can be really loud! We keep trying to find answers for this but have not resolved it so far.
obviously I’m not a doctor but the hiccups could be caused by the muscles around your heart healing from the surgery. It’s probably nothing to worry about but have a word with either your GP or your cardiac nurse. They might be able to give you something to ease the symptoms. Good luck x
