My husband had a pacemaker for 12 years before it needed changing. He had a further 10 years until he was aged 95. an ex- royal navy man he was always full of live until the end. I would recommend a pacemaker to anyone it was suitable for. Good luck and good health.

pacemaker
Hi Aljo, long story short. I had a failed attempt at a pacemaker implant when the third lead pierced my heart. The procedure was halted and emergency OHS was performed to repair the hole, I woke up in ICU. It was quite traumatic so I have abandoned the idea of having a pacemaker. I take lots of medication, I feel well and keep active. I know I would benefit from a PM but for the time being I'll just keep taking the meds. Best wishes.
Sorry to hear about your experience. It was over 30 years ago when my husband got his PM and there were only two wires then. Obviously everything has improved since and you were so unlucky. Hope you keep well and like me "keep taking the tablets." All the best.
Thank you Aljo, I'll definitely keep taking the tablets. 🫂 x
I hope you have recovered and are getting another chance to get a pacemaker?
Hi Jonathan _C, thank you for your reply. There is only a 1% chance of this happening, it was a bit of a shock at the time, however I'm over that now. To be honest, I don't think I would have coped with a PM, firstly it would be visible as I'm not fat and secondly I would be afraid that the wires would be dislodged when I was active - I am always gardening. Meds are fantastic and I feel really well. I hope you are well too.
