Hi all, any issues with Loratadine and Propanalol? I've read that some loratadine contains pseudoephedrine . It's hay fever season and i usually have loratadine.

Well I have wondered why I am blowing my nose alot more there year than in the past, this year is new for me taking Propranolol , not nothing earth shattering for me but I have been wondering why
Any cold or flu medication or similar which contains pseudoephedrine is contraindicated for those with particular conditions and on certain medications. Most basic hayfever tablets simply contain the active antihistamine ingredient such as loratidine or cetirizine, (plus a couple of inactive ingredients), which are fine for most people. If you are concerned about your own particular antihistamine check the package and the Patient Information Leaflet which will give the list of ingredients, and the medications and medical conditions it should not be used with.
The NHS has a drug contraindication list, and, of course, your pharmacist is the one who has specialised knowledge of medications.
Personally speaking I took propranolol together with basic generic hayfever tablets for years with no problems whatsoever.
I checked with my GP and the pharmacy which antihistamines were ok to take and was told loratidine. I have an auto immune disorder that causes my eyes or lips to swell up massively(chronic urticartia and angioedema) so I have to carry it with me all the time.
Thanks all. I have no idea why i put propanolol, it's actually bisoprolol i'm on
