Verapamil

Hello there. Quick question, I have read the literature on the tablet and posts, but can anyone tell me if Verapamil is categorised as a blood thinner. Sorry I know it’s a beta blocker but that’s calcium. I’m currently on other medication and I’m checking if they are working against each other or in unison.

Hi JenWro,

Verapamil belongs to a group of calcium channel blockers. It is not a blood thinner/anticoagulant. It can help reduce blood pressure, lower the heart rate, and prevent calcium from entering the heart and arteries.

What other medications are you taking? If you’re worried about interactions with other medications, please do speak to your pharmacist or doctor.

All the best.

Hi, no it's not a blood thinner. I've been on verapamilfor a long time but also apixaban as well which is a blood thinner. Hope that helps.
