Hi there, mum gas just been swapped from verapamil to angitil. She's also come off her usual spironolactone (on since Oct 23) since it was causing renal failure. I've never seen her so tired and exercise intolerant - has anyone else experienced this? She suffers principally from diastolic heart failure but developed AF while on the spiro, its now too high without the meds. She gas Raynauds as well which is why she was swapped from verapamil

Does Diltiazem (Angitil SR90) make you feel very tired?
The AF I had made me feel exhausted,I've just been put on diltiazem for angina but have more energy but just feel tired
Diltiazem is in the same class as verapamil, nondihydropyridine calcium channel blockers and both are vasodilators that shouldn't provoke Raynauds symptoms. Could the swap of meds and prescribed dose be noncomparable causing more slowing of the heart rate or lowering of BP aggravating fatigue? Diastolic dysfunction & renal failure are also contributing to fatigue I'm sure. Keep her physician informed.
Good advice, we'll try to get another appointment. She's only seen monthly by the cardiac nurse, who then feeds back to the cardiologist. Her GPs simply don't have a clue, lots of backlog in UK after the pandemic means cardiology is stretched to the limit. But I think we shouldn't wait and call for advice earlier. Thanks, your answer has helped me decide not to wait.
Diltiazem did not suit me for SVT . Caused me to have no energy - pounding heart and out of breadth - could not do any exercise without being totally out of breadth and also swollen ankles. I was changed to this medication as Disopryamide is impossible to get now. I have since been taken off this drug and am now on flecinide and bisprolol. Awaiting ablation. Don’t think my information will be any help but just my experience with Diltiazem was not positive for me.
