Awaiting a cardiology appointment and was wondering if it is ok to drink coffee?

Hello
To much coffee is not good for any of us really but an odd cup I think a lot of us have and maybe change to decaf coffee ?
Others might have different opinions and hope they will share them with you x
Thank you ☕️
Depends on what sort of cardiology appointment: just a discussion with a consultant or a scan? If the latter, your appointment letter should advise.
(My letter for my CT pelvis scan last week told me to drink 1.75 pints of water beforehand. I arrived at Reception with a pint left to consume and already with concern about retaining what I'd already drunk. The receptionist assured me that I hadn't needed to drink the water as the scan wasn't of my bladder!)
its well known that coffee is great for hearts and good at preventing heart disease. Coffee drinkers are less likely to have heart problems. That being said, for a heart that is damaged already, it may not be the case.
Sigh. I Googled and found a 2019 research project that concluded " Habitual coffee consumption was associated with lower risk of falling in older adults in Spain and the United Kingdom". But a few days ago: itv.com/news/anglia/2024-04...
Last year I had to stop coffee for 24hrs before my Cardiac CT. I never drank caffeine after this. I switched to decaf, best decision ever. Still enjoy my coffee.
I had AF and then angina, I found coffee didn't affect me but do only have 1-2 a day and not strong, I'd go by your pulse or switch to decaff
I have never been able to understand why anyone would worry about drinking coffee.Perhaps the confusion is really about caffeine. There is caffeine in tea too though not as much. I drink coffee all the time but it's always decaffeinated, so what's the problem. Perhaps it's something else, I don't know.
I used to drink about 8 cups a day but now cut down to just my Caffeine fix first thing. If I feel like one later in the day i stick to Decaf. Feel a lot better for it.
I now avoid caffeine. It seems to affect my heart rythm. It takes a bit of trial and error to find a decaf tea and coffee that I like. The water you get from your taps seems to influence the brew's taste too. Good luck in your hunt for something you like,
Henry
