Sometimes a new brand of something we've taken for years can have an affect on us.It's usually because you may not tolerate something in the non active ingredients in the new pill , the stuff known as the "packer" or if it's a capsule an ingredient in that.
It usually only happens if you've got hyper sensitivity to certain foods or sugars or if you are gluten or lactose intolerant and tha packer is made of those.
You obviously still need to take your medication , but if the side effects keep happening go back to your GP or Pharmacy tell them you are getting symptoms and want your usual brand. They should give you a new prescription for it.
As posted earlier some people have reactions to a new brand of medication if they are sensitive to one of the inactive ingredients used. Common suspects are things like lactose and mannitol. Check the PIL that came in the box for the formulation to see if there is a new ingredient on the list, not included in your previous brand, that could be the cause. However, it us unusual to experience such a strong reaction to a minute quantity of an excipient so quickly, so I would report this to your GP without delay. A pharmacist can also be knowledgeable about this. It may be that something else is going on, or even that a faulty batch of medication has been issued to the market, in which case it needs to be yellow-carded.
Should a specific ingredient need to be avoided in any future medication prescription your GP must specifically write the named brand required on the prescription form. It is not sufficient to put "not brand X". Make that appointment soon!
Sorry you had such an unpleasant experience. Mine is manufactured by Liconsa, I take 50 my a day. I do get cramps in my feet quite often and am very tired but have not noticed if it is due to the Losartan or to other factors. I hope you feel better now and have managed to identify if your symptoms are due to the medication. Thanks for posting, I will try to check if mine could be a side effect. Best wishes.
