Hypertension vs lisinopril?

My blood pressure is high so I was advised to up my dose of lisinopril from 2.5mg to 5mg a day. Since I have done this around 10 days ago I have had a massive flare up of gout and I read that there is a connection between lisinopril and gout flare ups. My previous gout flare up was over four years ago so is this just a coincidence? The gout is subsiding a bit now but it was so debilitating. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Thanks in advance.

I’d say your best source of information would be the pharmacist attached to your doctor’s group of surgeries, failing that your dispensing pharmacist.

You may have got the information about the connection between your medication with gout from a reputable source. If you feel you’d be better of changing medication there are many different types around.

You might find the website of Blood Pressure UK helpful, certainly as far as diet is concerned as that may have something to do with it all
