pain killer Ibuprofen or paracetamol HF and AG

Taking Dapaglifloxin , perinopril, Bisoprol and Apixaban …I read somewhere that you should only use one type of pain killer …but which one ..for mild non related pain ( I hope )

You might like to check with a pharmacist as everyone is different. I have to be very careful what over the counter meds I take as I'm also on meds for RA .

If I was you I would ask a bhf nurse but personally I wouldn't take ibuprofen I think paracetamol are a lot safer to take with meds I do because I get a lot of headaches hope this helps

I was told no ibuprofen by my cardiologist so I only use paracetamol.

personally I was told I could use either or both - if you use both have a half dose. In either case your body gets used to them and they are less effective. So I use some some days and the other one other days! Ibuprofen should be covered by prescribed Omeprazole or similar. But lots of people cannot take one or the other. I also have Butec patches for pain.

But I would strongly suggest that painkillers are only taken on the advice of the pharmacist who dispenses your medication or the one at your docs surgery

Heart patients are usually advised not take non steroidal anti inflammatories especially if you take certain heart medicines.

Yes...so did mine...so I take Tylenol or paracetamol..no NSAIDs

Ibuprofen increases the risk of internal bleeding, like the serious event I had, even though I was taking it within the the dose limits. So I avoid it and recommend others do the same.

Trouble is, paracetamol does absolutely nothing for me, Pain-wise. mixed with codeine as co-codamol it’s very constipating (even though I eat figs and beetroot and whatever to counteract this) so the max I can take is one half of one dose per day. I’m happy to take the slightly increased risk of cardiovascular complications if I can live a life that isnt pain-free by any means, but less painful.

Hence me saying take advice from an expert - a pharmacist.

Hi,I am on the 4 pillars for cardiomyopathy. I was told not to use ibuprofen, or any other nsaids.

I was snowboarding in Italy a few weeks ago, and I fractured my T6 & T7 vertebrae. Now I do not speak italian, and so the medical chats I was having were limited but when I explained about my heart, they were very reluctant to give me any painkiller, so I went eau naturale. It was an experience but somehow my body dealt with the pain and it wasn't as bad as I'd expected.

Two days later i was in British hospital on pain and they gave me dihydrocodeine, 30mg. I was also told I could take paracetamol.

2yrs post ohs I was told by my gp yesterday can take ibuprofen occasionally as I am not on blood thinners. My advice speak to your doctor first. Good luck

Hello, I take Bisoprolol 2.5. Last year I had a bad back. I called in my local pharmacist,asked what I should take for the pain. I told her I was taking Bisoprolol. I was told to take paracetamol.

most NSAIDs (e.g. Ibuprofen) interfere with the action of some drugs used for heart conditions and can cause increased blood pressure in hypertensive people - the advice i have been given, by a cardiology research nurse and teacher, is that they should be avoided if you are taking any of the relevant medication but can be taken in the short-term for an acute issue - with other precautions as relevant for you

paracetemol used to be the alternative medication suggested, but recent evidence indicate that this may also interact with the same heart medications

On Apixiban I would avoid NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Naproxen etc) as they increase the risk of bleeding. Apixiban is an anticoag and your risk would be higher whilst taking. That said your GP may advise you otherwise 🙂

I’m on Bisoprolol and have been told to avoid ibuprofen so just take paracetamol. Check with a pharmacist as they are the best source of advice.

Nsaids thin your blood. For this reason I was advised by my cardiologist not to take them, as I am on apixiban which is a blood thinner. Thereafter taking Nsaids puts one at risk of internal bleeding or bleeding to death if one gets injured. As blood that is too thin cannot clot appropriate.

anyway doctor said I can't take ibuprofen due to the effects it can have, but i can take paracetamol ( which did nothing) or co codamol ( which helps).
