Had a full blood test a couple of days ago and had my GP on the phone this evening. (Never a good sign IMO). It appears I have raised cholesterol levels of 7. Quite a shock as having looked at the unhealthy foods which can cause it I am not eating any of them. However can always do with adding more smoked fish etc. So I have been going to Slimming World since April and lost some weight but there will be a bit of a clash between a good diet for heart and low cholesterol and SW.
Either way I need to get back to the gym so that’s my new must do.
Haven’t heard anything from Harefield re the 24hr ECG monitor last week so hopefully no news is good news on that front!

Are you on a statin? Some people have naturally high cholesterol and no amount of diet changes (bar unsustainable extreme ones) will get them in the normal range. As a diabetic the main problem I have with WW and SW is the limitless fruit which can really hammer blood glucose! I went to a WW meeting and mentioned this - the leader was not happy when I said this. Subsequently she said cheese was just empty calories. When I interjected that it was a good source of protein and calcium it became clear it was not the place for me! 😁
You can definitely overdo the fruit, as you say, some fruits are sugar bombs and should not be consumed in large quantities, banana, mango, dried fruits etc, check the internet for details.
Plenty of people get very old with high cholesterol. Doesn’t mean you’re going to have any health issues.
But your body can make cholesterol.....I know somebody who had his first heart attack on the squash court at 36. He underwent a bypass. A number of years later he had to undergo a further bypass, as they had massively improved in the way it was done. His father died at 40 from a heart attack. He said the doctors told him that like his father, his body just produced too much cholesterol regardless of his fitness and diet. This was 30 years ago, and he is still alive and well. I just wanted to share this with you.
