edoxaban halving tablet

I had an AFIB incident picked up on an Apple Watch. At an appointment I was given an instant ECG showing no afib and then a 24 hour halter also showing no afib. I bought a wearable ECG device and I wore it for pretty much a year and I’ve had no incident of afib, but plenty of pacs and PVCs. An EKG showed that I had a slightly enlarged, left atrium, which is possibly related to afib.

My question is, I’m on edixabantablets at 60 MG, but having had no evidence of afib since the Apple Watch reading I am wondering if I could have the tablets reduced to 30 g by cutting them in half. My doctor said I should stay on the 60mg tablets because of afib can happen at any time.

Supplementary question here is, how long would I have to go without a fib before we decided that the Apple Watch reading was incorrect?

Any thoughts on those two questions would be appreciated

I can’t answer your question and it sounds like something that needs a careful discussion with your clinician. But I’ve a sort of similar experience. I’ve had two prolonged afib episodes, more than a year apart. One was fixed by flecanide in hospital setting and the second corrected itself after 10 hours. I have occasional palpitations and ectopic beats. Decision is for no meds for now but I’ve recently been encouraged to start statins even though my cholesterol is only mildly high and has been coming down. The afib diagnosis is seen as the main additional factor pushing up my risk of Cvd in next 10 years. I’m reluctant to start statins because of other meds I’m taking, but is anyone else in a similar position?
