Hi Sweetgabby, I don’t no anything about mechanical valves but hopefully someone will come along who does.
I have a CRT-D pacemaker this is my second one, but my leads are the same. At one stage I was told the leads might be causing me internal infection because they are old, they are about 13yrs old.
No matter what the situation you’re still young and you have life. Continue to live it. From what I read there are senior citizens like me on here who have them and they still travel to different countries and do a lot of exciting things. Always consult with your cardiologist before doing anything and also you have the BHF nurses who can guide you
All the best Diane.
Hi, yes, you can lead a normal life. I’ve had both an aortic valve replacement and a pacemaker (not ICD) and once you get over the post op symptoms you can lead a normal lifestyle. As you had a mechanical valve, like I have, you will need to be on Warfarin for the rest of your life but that is no big deal and will be well managed.
Hi I had a mechanical valve back in 2004 at age 48 I had a CRT-D fitted in 2019 I live a normal life that includes skiing and mountain biking
