Afib heart rate anything from 27- 87 bpm doing very little. EF 43 2 Yrs ago. Recent Chest Infection.

Breathlessness

Chronic Kidney Disease

Underactive Thyroid

Hiatus Hernia

I will probably think of more but what determines the need for a pacemaker? At the moment everyone is trying to get meds to control my heart rate but it seems an impossible task. I would love to try a pacemaker because it seems my only hope to having a bit of life right now. I was given dioxin but hospital phoned and told me not to take it because bp very low 80 /40 at most.

I was breathless and have hypothyroidism but neither of those influenced the need for my pacemaker, I had it because of heart block pauses and low rate.

When I had the 24 hour monitor it recorded a number of cardiac events of 2.85 seconds and a number of times only 27 beats per minute. Is that what you mean by block pauses and is that close to what you experienced?

I have 2nd degree heart block where if I remember rightly the interval gets longer then you get a pause which gives the symptoms, I think mine were between 3-5 secs. I also have AF, SVT and ectopics so difficult to know which causes the most problems ! I refused an ablation and asked for a pm instead as my late husband was so much better when he had his pm.

I have various illnesses includingcopd,af,diabetes.Since having a pm/de fib/fitted ,my breathing is much better and I have not had any chest infections suffered annually previously.Cannot possibly see any downside to having one.

Thank you for your reassurance. I have been asking for a while but as I've not seen a consultant for 12 months there is no-one listening. What brought me to the fore was a chest infection. I was in hospital 5 days on monitors and would have been longer but they felt I would safer from covis at home. I am breathless on the smallest activity like getting dressed.

My pulse rate was getting down to 30 at night (SPO2 75)Do you feel faint (when you stand up)?

do you get Blue Foot Disease (Peripheral Cyanosis)?

I felt faint without feeling breathless.

Low pulse rate in conjunction with AF and consequent low EF, would IMHO indicate that a pacemaker would benefit you.

Yes my heart rate drops at night. Lowest ive seen is 27 bpm. I do feel faint when I stand up. I have never heard of blue foot disease. I also have fainted in my recliner im sure. I thought I was falling asleep but the 24 hour monitor shows gaps in my h.r. of 2.85 seconds. So I have the low pulse rate, AF, EF was 43 2 years ago but have just had scan and technician said its a lot lower but waiting results. So it looks like I should get one. The problem will be how long will the list be? I would like to go private. I've waited long enough but I have to be referred I believe.
