Possible angina after triple bypass?

Approximately 2 1/2 years ago I was told I had Barrets Oesophagus and a hernia. Since that prognosis I have been getting acid reflux symptoms daily (heartburn and what feels like an uncomfortable pressure around my throat). Have also been on Lansoprazole/Rabeprazole with acid PH levels very low. Had a heart attack September 2023 and told rather than acid reflux it had possibly been Angina instead. I was told to up my Rabeprazole from 2-4 tablets daily to rule out heartburn and put on Angina tablets. Had a triple bypass January 2024. Absolutely no sign of heartburn/or Angina symptoms since the op which was 10 weeks ago. A week ago I started getting the daily pressure around my throat (but no heartburn). I have gone from feeling very positive to now worrying everyday. Have taken Rennie's but no difference. Too scared to use GTN spray incase it helps and then I've got my heart to worry about. Haven't seen my surgeon yet to rule that out and won't have my 3 yearly 'camera down my the throat' until November this year. Any thoughts and advice would be welcome x

a discussion with your GP or ring 111 maybe a good idea as your routine appointments are so far off.. as you’ve been symptom free but then they have come back then you should consult someone.

You will no doubt keep worrying otherwise and November is such a long wait. It’s difficult but if you can bring yourself to use the GTN spray - either you’ll get relief and may help you worry less OR it doesn't help in which case a chat with a medical person is a must.

I always think it’s worth asking the question sooner than later.

Your heart bypass was very recent and I doubt you have recovered from that yet. Some of the medication may be affecting you. Have you checked the leaflet to see the side effects? Are you taking them at the right time such as in the morning, before eating or with water?

What do you mean by "eating well"? Is that non processed food you prepare yourself in quantities that keeps your weight within good limits. Is that food too rich or eaten too late?

Sorry to say just because you’ve had your bypasses doesn’t mean your totally fixed. I had a quadruple 2 years ago and after lots of tests for pains it’s been decided I have micro vascular angina a bit of another shock. We all have to remember with out the op’s we’ve all had we would be dead so a little pain every now and then is a small price to pay.

It’s all super scary but you will start to get used to it or at least improve with the thoughts. Every morning just tell your self another bonus day so let’s make the most of it👍

I used to get nasty stomach acid problems and was taking Rennies regularly. Then the symptoms just went away by themselves. More recently I was having swallowing issues and it turned out that I still had asymptomatic reflux. I was put on Lansoprazole - 1 tablet every morning and that seems to have sorted the swallowing issue. I have mild angina under control with both angina and blood pressure tablets. Is your blood pressure normal?
