Hello. I run a Heart Failure Support Group in Harrogate , North Yorkshire. I started this group on the suggestion of my cardiologist when I asked him if there was anything I could do to help other people with heart failure. I was so grateful to him for the wonderful care and kindness he had given me.

We usually meet on the last Friday of the month in the Chocolate Factory Cafe in Harrogate. This varies if a Bank Holiday gets in the way. The next meeting is on March 22nd - 2-4pm. The cafe is next door to the Odeon Cinema with parking directly outside as well as nearby. It's also convenient for both the bus and train stations. The cafe is run by Skills for Living , so we're supporting a charity.

If you would like to come and chat to other people with heart failure do come, it would be lovely to see you. Carers are more than welcome, they can feel as lost as the patient.

Hi Cavalover

What a great idea! I live in Glasgow so sad I am too far away. I must admit I do feel a bit isolated. I go to an exercise class where there are people recovering from heart attacks but have never met anyone else with heart failure. My cardiac consultant has discharged me along with the clinic as they cannot do any more for me. It is hard not to feel abandoned ! Love this forum to hear about other experiences. You are doing a great service. I wish you well.

Have a look on line for a group called Pumping Marvellous, they have followers all over the country. Everyone on it has something HF related. You might find someone to meet for a coffee.😊

I wonder if there are any AF groups meeting in Cambridgeshire. The one in Harrogate sounds full of fun people. I would love to have something like that here!

You could ask your heart team. Some hospitals run similar groups attached to their Cardiac Rehab.

I do not have a heart team ? Last had a face to face 3/4 years ago. Never had cardio rehab .

That is following Mitral valve. repair in 2000 in the old Papworth and persistent AF for past 10 years.

This why I sometimes feel they have forgotten me.

It’s because there are so many people like you that I started my group at the suggestion of my cardiologist when I asked him how I could help other HF/AF patients who aren’t as lucky as me having continuing care. Maybe your GP can point you in the direction of other patients in a similar situation to you. There’s a group called Pumping Marvellous that does on line chat.

Thank you gor your reply .

I looked at Pumping Marvellous , what a huge enterprise!!

I can’t talk to my cardiologist because I do not see him . The gp they have moved me to only works 2 days a week and blanches when she sees me. One does not think outside of the box !! Problem « one « and that is it! End of visit .
