I am approaching the time when I should be able to start applying for my driving licence. I had an ICD fitted last August and voluntarily surrendered my licence. It was tough, but I did it over the phone and the DVLA person was really helpful and empathetic. I then received device therapy in October, which reset the 6 month clock. My medication has been adjusted and I've not had any further device therapy since. 🤞🤞
My question is not so much about the rules, but the actual process of reapplying. When I surrended, the very helpful person at DVLA advised me to start reapplying a month in advance, which will be in a couple of weeks from now. So, I want to start gathering the required bits of evidence and avoid any hold-ups.
What proof have others used? Is it as simple as a letter from my consultant (e.g. via their secretary) or does DVLA need multiple bits of information? I can't quite remember what she told me. 😖
Thank you hive mind!

When you surrendered your licence you would/should have been sent 2 forms, 1 to be completed by yourself, the other by your cardiologist/EP. I would contact the DVLA and ask them to resend the forms. My husband found the DVLA very helpful & his EP was totally on the ball about returning the completed form, fortunately he only had to wait 3 months for his a new licence. However, because he had surrendered his licence rather than have it revoked he was able to drive under section 88 of the road traffic act whilst he waited for the new licence. If you are driving under section 88 you will need to advise your car insurer though
