I've posted about this before. I had my ICD check on Monday, 8 weeks after it was fitted. I asked if I could start driving again as I only had to stop for a month because it's a primary prevention fitting. They said I have to speak to my GP as it's the GPS decision. I've not had to surrender my license and I sent the form back to DVLA and not heard a thing from them.
My community heart nurse is confused as to why the hospital have said the GP has to give me the all clear when it's them that do the checks.
Anyone else had this issue at all?

I had a pacemaker fitted following my second AVR and once I had my six week check up and was given the all clear by my durgeon I just filled in the DVLA form and got the all clear from them to drive again. At the time I was told they would only contact my GP/hospital if they had any queries about my health, but they didn't. It may be the delay is with the DVLA at the moment.
I filled the form and sent it back the day after my ICD. Nothing from DVLA, the doctor checking my ICD said I wouldn't hear from the DVLA and that it's down to my GP. So I'm confused as it my heart nurse. But thank you for the reply
You have complied with the DVLA requirements so are able to start driving after 1 month .You do not need to inform DVLA as it was a primary preventive procedure. There is also no need to inform your insurance company.Happy driving.
Why don't you contact DVLA? I had to stop driving for a month after my ICD was fitted and they promptly contacted me at the end of the month to say I could drive again
