In May last year I started to get pain in my left calf and foot including toes.. I 65, 66 in October and am a very active non smoker. I have a BMI of around 19. Went to doctors and had bloods and a Basic Doppler test done which showed there was a problem with blood flow. Placed on Statin and anticoagulants. Referred to vascular consultant who was excellent and diagnosed intermittent claudication. After ultrasounds and CT scan I was found to have blockage. After further consultation they are considering a femoral popliteal bypass.
I am now on antiplatelet drug, aspirin, and lazoprazole. Try to keep active but have pain in calf and toes which varies each day.
Has anyone had this operation and how long did it take to get back to normal lifestyle.

Hi SaturnBond66, sorry to see you are having a difficult time with your leg. Have you had a diagnosis of peripheral artery disease (PAD) or cardiovascular disease? I'm currently awaiting an appointment for the vascular surgery department, hoping I don't need any procedure. Prior to my heart attack last year I had really bad pain in left leg when walking, after having stents (2) in my RCA it got better, but have various problems with weakness and pain in arms and right leg now🙄. I have heard of stents in legs and various other parts of the body but I'm afraid I don't have experience of it myself (hoping never to either 🤞)
This forum is very helpful, I mean the members are, and I've learned a lot, so hopefully someone will else will post.
Ps I was diagnosed with cardiovascular /peripheral artery disease too.
