Given the start of my Seropositive RA in 2005. I had bad experiences with most of the traditional RA meds prescribed. I never really understood why doctors only seemed to give medication which would suppress the immune system. Generally I felt this approach was making me feel much worse.
So for many years I decided to find my own way with numerous Natural meds. This made me feel so much more normal in my health. I simply took OTC pain killers only when I felt I needed them. Then after some years I needed something a little stronger and went onto Diclofenic then Naproxen.
In 2022 I suffered a heart attack. And I noticed Naproxen was not good for my heart condition. So after more in depth research online I asked the hospital rheumatologist if I could take hydroxychloroquine instead. As I had read that this is kinder to the heart. I have never had any side effects and so far so good.
I consider myself extremely lucky with my rheumatoid arthritis. Although the early bone damage to my hands, foot and knee will always remain, I rarely get any real pain or flare-ups at all.
I did notice on my last hydroxychloroquine prescription my consultant has written Seronegative RA diagnosis. I am not sure what the relevance of this is.
