I guess you should speak to your GP about this if it continues.I was diagnosed with coeliac disease following weight loss(revealed initially vis basic blood test) but there could be
if you go to a BMI calculator you’ll see your weight is at the higher end of ‘healthy’. In your position what I would do (after Christmas) is to have a chat with your surgery’s pharmacist. In the UK most groups of surgeries employ one or two. Your surgery receptionist will know, and you will get a phone consultation. Hopefully. Pharmacists are better at medication and side effects than docs. ,
If its any help I am of a similar height to you and last year I intentionally lost weight which turned out to be 13kg over about 4 months. I just cut out crisps and a few other things and changed a few things more in my diet, but nothing major and otherwise my diet was as before. I also made sure I exercised every day as far as practicable, such as including a two mile walk. Other than that things were much the same as before. In the end my weight loss bottomed out and in fact I have now gained a couple of kg or so. So you might find that happens to you. However if you continue to lose weight and find you are tired and have no energy etc it may be time to seek some medical advice.
Hello ,I was 58 when I had HA 3 and half years ago I was roughly same weight as you (and height) . I cut out all rubbish from diet hardly touch red meat cut right down on alcohol.
I was 84.5 k on day of HA I am now about 74k but I did go down to around 71k but weight crept up . You'll probably find you will do that too. Any worries contact your heart team or GP.
Having read a few people's posts in the past and coupling my own experience, I doubt your weight loss is due to your medication Washo66. The majority of people complain about putting weight on and this is due to lower basal metabolic rate caused by medication. In your shoes, I woul be keenly looking for another cause. I am no expert though, and this is purely an opinion. I wish I could lose some weight 😭😂
I’ve lost 9kg since my HA, two thirds of that since surgery. I’m now hovering around the 24.8 mark on BMI. I’ve lost muscle definition in just my arms, legs etc are fine. I put that down to lack of lifting exercise following OHS. My doctor wasn’t concerned even when my BMI was around 29, I was though and did get it down well before my cardiac issues emerged.
Dapagliflozin is well known & documented to cause weight loss, although not everyone has that side effect. In addition you would be very surprised how much weight you can lose by not snacking. You weigh roughly the same as my husband & he is 6ft tall. He started on dapagliflozin a couple of years ago & within weeks his weight fell off, he really was quite overweight previous to taking dapagliflozin. due to cancer treatment. Losing 1-2lbs per week is a steady amount and you should eventually reach a plateau. My husband has never put the weight back on, his weight is pretty consistent except or until he has fluid retention.
However if you're really concerned or you have any sort of symptoms, tiredness etc then certainly ask your Dr to investigate
Hi I too lost weight after having my heart attack 18 months ago. I just could not keep the weight on me. It didn't help that I was diagnosed pre diabetic from the 80mg of statins I was put on. Statin did make me loose muscle. But I went to rehab gym then moved on to normal gym and use I small weights to improve my muscles. Statins are renowned to reduce muscle. However I could not tolerate the dose of Bisoprolol I was prescribed due to Asthma so it was reduced to 1.25 at night. But I don't know if you have researched Ramipril on the Net. It does mention weight loss as a side effect. I believe my weight loss was due to the Ramipril and not the Bisoprolol as things didn't change weight wise after my reduction by half of Bisoprolol. I see you are on Ramipril on too. My weight seems to have stabilised after 18 months. I am not loosing or putting on weight, and I am the healthiest weight I have been in years. Best Wishes x
Dapagliflozin can cause weight loss, I know the same has happened to a male friend of mine too. Unfortunately for me, I lost a couple of pounds then it stalled due to the extra carbs I was told to eat. Back to a lower carb diet for me!
Hi sorry to hear of your weight loss I started on Dapagliflozin and in a month lost almost 3 kilos in weight and my blood pressure became very low so the cardiologist stopped my usage after which things returned to normal Hope that helps and you get sorted as that drug apparently does not suit everyone
