Hey everyone... fellow Myocarditis/ pericarditis devotees... does the cold weather effect your symptoms? I've been experiencing more pain today and i think numbness in my arm.. my pulse is always low but a bit lower today... anyone else experience anything similar? Keep warm everyone x

I don’t have myocarditis but the cold weather is a trigger for my angina. Cold and hot climates make the heart work harder either to keep the body warmer or cooler depending on the weather. I wrap a scarf around my nose and mouth if I need to go out at this time of the year, including lots of layers underneath my coat to keep warm.

Hopefully those with myocarditis come and share their experiences.

Stay safe and warm.

Hi yes I get this with my pericarditus and heart failure. I love the frosty weather but have to stay warm or my breathing becomes more difficult and my chest hurts. Like Tos92 says cover your face with a scarf and wear layers. Take care now x

Hi, I had both conditions and I do find the hot or cold weather affects me a lot now. Breathing is much more difficult but my heart tends to race rather than lower.

I too ensure I breathe through a scarf or snood (advice from an asthmas nurse years ago) and it really does help.

I get like a vice type squeezing around my ribs reminding me to slow down/stop and rest.

Im struggling with a chest infection too at mo 🤦🏽‍♀️ oh the joys 😉

Take care & stay warm.

during high or low temperatures your heart has to work harder to keep you cool or warm - it has to pump the fuel for your temperature control system - so if you have a heart condition you are likely to have symptoms during very hot or cold weather, or at any time when yo need you heart to work harder

others have suggested ways of keeping warm, these can be really helpful, along with taking it easy which you should be doing anyway with Myocarditis

Thank you so much... as ever I really appreciate your reply. This is sooooo frustrating, I thought I was seeing the end of this particular experience but 11 months on and it seems things still aren't resolved :( rest is indeed my world which is tough on my spirits but I feel ssoooooo lucky my life allows me to rest up. Take care of yourself. T x

For sure, both cold and warmer weather seems to bring about some symptoms... I don't tend to worry about it so much now but it is frustrating
