hi I am struggling so much at the moment

I went to get the 24 hour thing today so got that for the day but I feel horrendous… struggling with breath at the top of the stairs rapid pulse can feel in the middle of my chest the heart working harder … Iv been to a n e and they said it’s not a heart attack so can’t keep me in and do any tests or anything

Iv send of to try and get an echocardiogram privately as I really feel like I am getting worse daily… anyone else struggling to get seen ? Just feel like it’s going to be to late by the time someone sees me

Sorry to hear of your struggles. Can your GP refer you to someone? I appreciate getting an appointment with them can be a wait but having something in the diary is better than nothing. Alternatively, call 111 - with the symptoms you've described I don't think they've have any hesitation in getting you an appointment.

Hi if you’ve got a 24 hr monitor fitted and you’re having symptoms that is good, isn’t it, because if it’s to do with your heart it will show up on there and you will be seen and be treated. See what the monitor says. You’ve already been to a&e and they’ve ruled out a HA which is good. If you feel your symptoms are still bad then go back to a&e.

Hi sorry to hear you are struggling. I think now you have the monitor fitted then you will know whether these symptoms are related to your heart or not. Speak to your G P and explain how bad you are feeling, don’t allow them to dismiss you, be firm and say you need help. Whether it’s your heart causing these problems or another issue you should not be ignored and should receive the help you need. Good luck I hope you feel better very soon. Let us know how you get on 😊X

My son aged 50 is struggling to be seen by cardio with the same issues as you. Keep contacting them and also go back to your GP, they can refer you again or at least write to the cardiologist and explain your problems. x

Hi I’m literally in bed all the time at the moment think it’s because I don’t want to get up and feel the same way I am doing

What issues is your son having ?

Hi Sorry to hear that. My son is breathless, tired all the time and has bouts of AFib, sometimes pain in his chest i.e angina - he was given the spray for that - his heart beats out of rhythm. So far he has had a ultrasound, a heart scan and heart monitor for 24hrs. But it didn't pick up the AFib. His apple watch picked it up, but of course the Doctors won't accept that as evidence of AFib. So now waiting for Cardiologist for further investigations.

i am sorry to hear about your struggle and hope that yo soon get the attention you need

while you wait for your results and whatever comes next with the doctors have you thought about learning some coping strateggies? like some breathing techniques to help you when you are struggling to catch your breath and also these help to calm a pounding heart - there are plenty of suggestions online, but you could start with :

If you're sitting or standing, place both feet flat on the ground. Whatever position you're in, place your feet roughly hip-width apart.

Let your breath flow as deep down into your belly as is comfortable, without forcing it.

Try breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Breathe in gently and regularly. Some people find it helpful to count steadily from 1 to 5. You may not be able to reach 5 at first.

Then let it flow out gently, counting from 1 to 5 again, if you find this helpful.

Keep doing this for at least 5 minutes.

So sorry to hear your struggling so much but it's a good thing that your wearing the monitor it will pick up anything and if you have a symptom diary to coincide with the time on the monitor that helps aswell x you will definitely be seen straight away if they feel it's urgent enough. I'm so sorry you had to go to A&E but I'm glad that you weren't suffering from anything serious thats good that a heart attack has been ruled out. I hope your not waiting to long to be seen or given the results of the holter monitor I waited 3 months for mine but like I said thats only if there's nothing to worry about so quite reassuring! Hope you feel better soon xx

Yeh it’s frustrating isn’t it I just like the rest of us with our own problems want to know what it is then at least we have a fighting chance but it seems these things are very difficult to diagnose x
