what’s life like with permanent AFIB.

hi you lovely people. I just wanted to get an idea of what life is like when our afib becomes permanent.? I’m feeling abit low lately because Iv been getting quite alot of AFIB episodes lately. Alot more than usual and Although only short ones 10 mins to a hour it’s beginning to pray on my mind.!!! I was doing well until about 12 months ago but I get daytime ectopics for up to 2 weeks at a time too so it’s starting to get to me a little to be honest.!!

I have got a cardiologist appointment soon too which I’m grateful for. I don’t think I’d be that bothered if I was older but I’m nearly 56 and still working full time and thankfully not a strenuous job.👍 I’d like to hear from someone who is in permanent AFIB and still able to work or go for walks etc. I do apologise for sounding rather depressing. I have had 3 PVI ablation’s in the past and was doing good but recently it’s starting to make an appearance again.

All the best.

Ron.x👍

AFib is different for everyone. For me, going permanent wasn't an issue because I'm fairly asymptomatic. It is better than the unpredictability of paroxysmal AFib. Your mileage may vary, of course.

I’m in permanent Afib but I can’t explain it. For years my heart as quivered, skipped beats, gone fast, sometimes I get stabbing pains and some times it feels like it’s stopped, but obviously I’m still alive

The other day I had a HF cardiology appointment. It was worse walking once I got out of the car, but often it’s like that. Most days breathlessness is at another level when I’m walking. When I received my cardiologist report it said I was in Afib. I didn’t know that, while sitting I felt nothing.

I don’t worry about VTs, afib or any of the other ones. I’m on anticoagulants so I don’t get clots.

I have so much going on with my heart kidneys and lungs. My main worry is getting shocked by my device if I’m out. And sometimes wondering when it’s going to stop completely, because it will do.

Sorry to hear this. Has anything noticeably changed over the last year either with your diet, lifestyle, relationship?

Could anything else be triggering it, electrical impulses such as a server in your bedroom, mobile phone left on next to your bed, moving to a more polluted urban environment?

I can’t think of anything that’s changed apart from switching from magnesium oxide to magnesium citrate and also having alot of trouble with carpal tunnel syndrome and on waiting list for a procedure ! Without sounding pessimistic I think it’s probably just normal progression of this condition.?? I may be wrong.? I’m still trying to keep positive but it messes with my head somedays? Iv got a cardiologist appointment coming up soon at end of month so I’ll bombard him/her with some questions.

Thanks dev186.👍
