Worried

I am feeling very depressed and worried that something else is going on with my heart other than my usual micro vascular angina. I kept on taking the Hrt despite it giving me significant chest pain every time I took it. I thought I would push through it and that it would get better as it was only applied twice weekly. But it just got worse and I was starting to get pain when I took a deep breath. Then I got very worried thinking I might have a P.E. anyway it's not happening like that now but just this constant dull ache that won't go away . Not like my usual angina that comes and goes. Not sure what to do . I think I will wait and see over the weekend and maybe go to the gp Monday if I am still worried.

Hi Poppy,

I’m sorry to hear you’re still having chest pain despite having some medication changes.

Can I ask when you feel this new pain that you describe? Do you have any other symptoms? Do you know if there are any triggers?

Usually, if you take a deep breath in and it’s hurts like you have described, it can indicate something going on in the chest/lungs and not always the heart. But it seems you have had a PE ruled out with a CTPA I’m assuming which is good news.

Have you tried your GTN during these episodes to see if that helps relieve it? Not all patients with MVA will respond to GTN however.

All the best.

Tos

Hi Tos

Thanks for your reply. We'll I am just having a constant dull ache at the moment not the pain when breathing in . I did try gtn and it seemed to help a little bit but not like the usual fix it with angina . I haven't had a CT scan to rule out P.E . It's probably not that but I just don't know what's going on . I don't think it's chest wall pain , the HRT is what triggered it. I will wait and see.

Hi Poppy,

My apologies. When you said it doesn’t seem to be happening that way now I thought you have probably had tests to rule out a PE. I don’t know enough about HRT to offer any insight unfortunately, but I do hope you get to the bottom of these new symptoms.

Hi Poppy451

I was told after my heart attack that I wouldn’t be able to continue with hrt. On saying that since my heart attack most off my symptoms just went. I get the odd flush but apart from that everything went. X

Yes well the type of HRT I was taking was meant to be much safer. But it still says risk of heart attack stroke and P.E on the packet. But I was listening to all these videos on YouTube saying this type of HRT is completely safe. But it made me feel terrible and now I am worried I have a P.E!

Yes well I went to the g.p who sent me to A&E for blood test for my heart and ecg . All OK. The doctor at the hospital said it would be fine to carry on with the HRT but it did not make me feel fine at all. I gave it a good go but it made me feel so bad and also scared me .
