Upper back ache

Hi after reading post on here today I'm worried about my upper right side back pain. I was involved in a car crash on Saturday where our car was hit from behind by a lorry and span round hitting crash barrier facing the wrong way on the M4. Lucky for us we were on the inside lane and ended up on the hard shoulder. This pain started Sunday afternoon but when I woke up Sunday morning was very bad. I have a 80% blocked Lad and was worried it's angina. I used the GTN spray just in case. It didn't go away so I took paracetamol which took it off. I have continued taking this every four hours so what I'm asking is do you think it is down to accident and not heart as would paracetamol take ache away if angina. Thank you

Hi Plum, if the GTN spray didn't help its unlikely to be angina, I would suggest a trip to your local A&E, sounds more muscular to me but best be on the safe side

take care

Mark

Thanks Mark I will see how it goes . I have holiday booked in 12 days and have annal insurance so will speak to heart nurse tomorrow if no improvement . If I did not have chd I wouldn't think of it being other than pulled muscle. X

Hi Plum53

Sorry to hear about your crash!

It may be likely the pain you have is a result of your crash, and especially if paracetamol is relieving your pain and not your GTN spray. However, it may be a good idea to go to see your GP to get checked over-especially as you are going away soon.

Hope you feel better soon!

Or a trip to A&E as skid112 suggested! Best of luck!

I don't know that anyone can diagnose you on here - we are not medically trained. I suggest you go and see your GP or if it gets a lot worse, go to A&E.

It does sound like a muscle or nerve problem. I am waiting for a quad bypass and trapped a nerve earlier this year causing a lot of pain in the right shoulder area. My girlfriend consulted Dr Google and came up with some downright scary scenarios!

With an 80% LAD blockage are they planning stenting or a bypass? Also check your travel insurance covers your heart condition.

Thank you for reply my consultant said I have angina because of the narrowing of artery. I am being treated by medication as only had the ache in mid chest the once .Had tests then angiogram was done . I was told they go by symptoms and if I start getting angina pain often then they think to go down the route of having s stent . My insurance covers my angina and all my other problems. I have booked apt at Drs tomorrow to get checked. Will update . Thanks again
