Hello, I've been having Bigeminy episodes since 11th Sept, was put on 1.25mg bisoprolol as a pill in the pocket, well this became an everyday occurance, after convo with Gp, I took everyday, things improved for a bit, I ended up in hospital 5 weeks ago with uncontrollable Bigeminy, was under observation and stayed overnight, was given 2.5 mg whilst there, seemed to help and settled, so was taking 1.25mg in morn and 1.25mg in eve, helped for a bit, unfortunately I ended up back in hospital 4 days ago with bad episodes and dizziness this time, was told to now take 2.5mg morn and eve, so 5mg in total,,,,,I'm soooo worried and scared it's been a cppl of days now taking the divided 5mg but throughout the day I'm still getting episodes, I feel so uncomfortable and scared, I'm so worried about my heart and I'm not getting much support or reassurance, I'm waiting for a cardiology appt and I've had a 24 hr holter monitor fitted 3 days ago, I really don't know what to do now, has my body got to adjust to this new dose as is basically double,,,,I'm only 49 usually fit n healthy, don't drink or smoke and not overweight, I just don't get it anymore,

You are very specific about the dates this started. Your condition could be triggered by stress, change of diet, change of lifestyle and lots of other things. So perhaps this Sept 11th date is important?

Spooks74 profile image
Spooks74 in reply todevonian186

Hi DevonianI had a lot of stress on the run up to that date, I do also suffer with Anxiety, so I guess I get into a viscous circle,

devonian186 profile image
devonian186 in reply toSpooks74

So if it seems to be stress and anxiety related have you tried Yoga, Meditation or some other form of controlled activity in order to try and retain a calm state of mind and body?

Hi ya,,, I thought it about yes, but I dont feel like doing anything with palpitations all the time, I feel far to uncomfortable, I get very little relief from taking Bisoprolol atm,

I suffered with anxiety on and off for years. Tried absolutely everything, but found the only thing that actually helped me, was hypnotherapy. Don’t ask me why it worked, but it did. You could try it and see if it helps your anxiety.I actually went and had an ablation on 19th September, I’m sure I’d never have gone ahead with it, if I’d not had the hypnotherapy last year. At the moment, I am suffering from ectopics. I have an Emay ECG gadget, which I use to record any heart irregularities and it said I had possible VPB Bigeminy. I’ve never heard of that before, so googled it. Just hoping these ectopics go away before too long. I know all the info on here and on the fact sheets I have, said that it happens, but still it’s not nice having them. Hope you manage to get some relief from your anxiety and palpitations.

As soon as I replied I thought of that modern fad for mindfulness and came across this

audible.co.uk/pd/Mindfulnes...

It seems to cover general relaxing of body and mind. Personally I have never gone in for this but I am not a particularly anxious person. But could be worth looking at this general field

Ohhhhhh that sounds interesting i just had a quick listen, I'll sort that later, thank you 😊

If you do pursue this perhaps you could report back at some point, as many on this board suffer stress and anxiety and many suffer the same condition as you describe.

Ohhh I absolutely will, I seem to get more sense here than anywhere else, unfortunately I've Been chucked on this med n that's it

I was on 3.75mg Bisoprolol and that made me spaced out, woozy, dizzy. I had it reduced. Are you sure it’s not the Bisoprolol

If anxiety/stress is a root cause I suspect it needs to be under reasonable control before the Bisoprolol will then do the rest and fully alleviate it.

It might be worth keeping a detailed health diary in which you write down the proceedings of your day and the food/drink you consume and see if there is any pattern.

It could be stress and anxiety that causes your problems, but combined at any one time with different factors like a spicy food, sulphites, or some ultra processed food ingredient, cleaning products, or even some of the electronic waves now coming from so many devices. For example a server or your mobile phone placed too near your sitting area or bd.

That's why I was interested in your specific 11th September date as "something" happened . The trouble is that this is an under researched condition and many GP's are quite dismissive of the distress it causes.

Hi ya, ohhhh I didn't realise all those things, Sept 11th was the day when my Partner decided to have a massive row with me,,,,I've not been right ever since, yeah I've notied GPS and Inc the hospital don't seem to bothered, that doesn't help my mental health atall,

Spooks74 profile image
Spooks74 in reply todevonian186

I'm keeping a diary of events but will add the food and drinks etc, I don't have anything with caffeine in atall and no fizzy stuff or alcohol,

I would take a closer look at the vagus nerve which if inflamed can cause many of the problems you describe. The inflammations tends to be connected with gastric problems, but not necessarily. It could certainly flare up in times of stress, This is just one of many items on this key nerve.

Omg you know something, Back in Jan I suffered from Labyrinthitis, which then gave me vestibular neuritis, which caused me a multiple issues, balance, dizzy and panics etc, I've also been getting bad heartburn over the last week.they did loads of heart tests back in March to rule out,,,,ultrasound showed heart is structurally sound, monitoring 24hrs picked up ectopics nothing done till became an issue in Sept, ,,,never seem to get to the route cause, I really appreciate your messages. Stating to shed some light, currently waiting for Gp to call me,

devonian186 profile image
devonian186 in reply toSpooks74

Please let us know the results of the call.

Can I ask if the stress caused by the row has now gone away either because the relationship ended or it is now on an even keel.

Spooks74 profile image
Spooks74 in reply todevonian186

Hello. The stress caused by the row hasn't really gone away, because it keeps raising its ugly head for various reasons, if it happens which it more than likely will so it'll be over, ppl keep saying he's gonna end up killing me, all this with everything that's gone on, its a long story of events which are quite degrading, I'll certainly let you know what th gp reckons. I'm currently sat at Dr's waiting to see my mental health guy

Spooks74 profile image
Spooks74 in reply todevonian186

Hi. Results from Dr's call , ,,not my usual Dr, ohhhhh we need results from the holter monitor which could take a while, you'll have to wait for cardiology appt and ohhhh can you book in for another ECG at surgery now your on the 5mg, three is nothing he can do untill all above is done, I think its because I've been referred to cardio that they brush me off, well he does anyway

devonian186 profile image
devonian186 in reply toSpooks74

Sorry, but not surprised to hear that. I think Doctors underestimate the degree of anxiety people can feel when they know something is wrong.

In the meantime you really need to deal with the stress levels which seems to possibly be a trigger for some of your other ailments. The meditation/mindfulness might help on that but it might not address the root cause of your stress.

You might also look at what else has changed-diet, position of server, new cleaning products etc-..

If there are gastric problems involved (vagus nerve) , which may then cause some of the irregular heart beats, have you tried burping-it helps to drink something fizzy. Also tonal stimulation.

That is a posh word for humming. Go online and you will see how and for how long but if you have an internal bathroom with a fan it is useful to not only match the tone you need for a prolonged period, but stops other people hearing and thinking you've gone mad.

In the meantime are you allowed any exercise? I find walking briskly with my hiking poles help.

Spooks74 profile image
Spooks74 in reply todevonian186

Hello. You did make me laugh with tonal stimulation, I generally walk to sch with my child to drop off and pick up, good 10 min walk. Do housework ro raise heart rate, sometimes that triggers,,,, anyway the docs are so unsupportive with no reassurance well he was anyway, I do sing sometimes but will try humming, no one has told me not to exercise so I do what can and rest, the only current gastric issues I have is on n off heartburn, I'll have to call sky as the put router in bedroom, was a complete fk up on there part and then refused to te locate it to living room where services where in 1st place.

Nightmare

devonian186 profile image
devonian186 in reply toSpooks74

When was the router put in the new location and how powerful is it?

I don't want to get into conspiracy theories but electro magnetic radiation should be kept at arms length. Having a router in the bedroom is not a good idea, although some are better shielded than others.

About 18 months ago,,,,I've been poorly for a year, I'm on phone to sky now stressing g to them I want it removed because of health issues, I've called loads before but no one gets back to me, and the cheeky gits said I need to pay for re location, all because they took it from the wrong pole

devonian186 profile image
devonian186 in reply toSpooks74

Electro Magnetic Radiation might be affecting you and it might not but it is certainly best to try to get rid of anything that might be causing your problems or adding to them. The server really needs to be somewhere else.

The World Health Organisation recommends that you should keep your mobile phone one metre away from your sleeping position and turn it off at night.

Spooks74 profile image
Spooks74 in reply todevonian186

Hey, just got off phone to sky, an engineer is coming out Fri between 10 and 12 to remove and re locate, why couldn't they do this before, maybe because now I've told them I've a heath condition and it needs out of my room ASAP,

Bisoprolol has a bad press, you only ever hear from the minority who have a problem.

Personally I have no problem with 7.5mg in the morning along with all the other stuff. I believe 10mg is the Max dose for most people so stick with it if you can.

Regards

Hi PradaYeah I've been on Bisoprolol various doses for the last 8 weeks, so this new dose of 5mg split has been 4 days now,

Not sure if any help but I was prescribed bisoprolol for SVT but changed to propranolol. My gp changed it as I’d been getting really anxious and the propranolol helps with anxiety too. It seems to be working for me, for both the SVT and the anxiety. The thing that helped the most though was finding out what was going on and not being scared of it, which came as as result of the cardiologist appointment. Have you spoken to anyone that has explained what it is, or have a referral to cardiology? Definitely stress makes these things worse!! Hope you get sorted soon!

Spooks74 profile image
Spooks74 in reply toCookieisland

Hello cookieisland, I was initially given propanalol but it made my asthma worse so had to come off, then put on bisoprolol, no one has really explained this condition to me, I did have tests back in March as in heart scan and 24hr monitor which picked this up but it was a 2 burden, and if became an issue start bisoprolol, I didn't find this out till Sept when things became a real issue and 2 trips to hospital, just had another monitor fitted last week for 24hrs, on Wed took back Thursday so waiting for the result, I have been referred to cardiology so waiting for that too,

Thanks cookieisland

Hi, I’m on Bisoprolol 1.25 but was getting dizzy so they have to be careful increasing it. I’ve got Bigeminy and when admitted to hospital for 8 days in February with Myocarditis they wired me up continuously and found I was having 34,000 extra beats because of Bigeminy and previously scans showed border line 35% heart failure so I’ve had a CRT-D device fitted now to correct the extra heart beats which it has and I feel so much better for it. I can do so much more now. They only picked these beats up because I was wired up for a week so it might not have been found. I’m not saying this is the same for you every one is different but it’s something you can ask next time. Q: how many extra beats is Bigeminy making? I had palpitations all the time. They’ve said I only get 7 extra beats now with this device and I’m waiting on my latest echo results to see if anything else needs to be done. Good luck and hope they sort your problems out soon. X
