Are the cocktail of meds for heart failure, entresto maybe, are they known to cause upset tummy?

I am not on the same meds as you but a cocktail of different ones and my stomach is always a mess it gets me down to be honest

I have spoken to my Doctor and there is nothing much we can change but it would be worth you talking to yours and some might be able to be changed that would help settle this down

I'm on Entresto and Dapa plus others (for a much longer period) and since Entresto, I have a less predictable tummy too. I've kind of got used to it. 🤣 x

I had major issues with Apixaban - lots of studies in other countries which link it to problems, but not so much here - switched to Rivaroxaban and no problems.

I had a dodgy stomach before I started meds. Unsure if the heart failure caused the issues, I’ve read various reports about it being problematic. I hate going out now because of the issues. Not spoken about enough.

I’ve noticed that you’re not taking any meds to protect your stomach.

I’m on entresto, Dapaglifozin, rivaroxiban, Spirolactone and Sotalol but since my meds increased from 1 to 4 I have been given Lanzoprazole in order to protect my stomach (I used to get reflux too and that med settled it).

I still get at times an upset tummy but it is not very frequent to change my life.

I’m not sure if gastro protectors also help with bowels moments but it is something to think about and possibly discuss with your gp

The dapagliflozin is a drug used for type 2 diabetes. It contains Metformin which can upset people's tummies. If you take it with meals it can help. I think people often get used to it, over time.

are you on Lansoprazole to protect the lining of your stomach because of taking the heart tablets? I’ve just had a really bad 6 or more weeks with constant diarreah and asked the question on here and I had about 15 replies on the morning before I saw GP to say it could be Lansoprazole! I asked GP to put me on another one and two days after taking it I was ok! I wouldn’t have known if it hadn’t have been for this group of people so I’m really grateful to them. I’ve also found that I’m weeing more again as that had stopped as well so I’m interested to know if my eGFR blood test has a better result next time re: my kidneys. Hope you get sorted soon. Joy.

On the same mix of meds with no problem an extra to you is Lansoprazole 15mg which I take before breakfast ! When I started to change meds to Entresto etc I did change from Omaprazole to Lansoprazole on Heart Failure Nurse advice Hope this helps.

Hi

I’m on the same meds and used to have the same issues. I started monitoring my food and drink to see if anything stood out.

I now steer clear of Battered fish, curries, full fat milk, fruit and any other foods containing either large percentage of fat or fibre.

This has reduced the problem by about 90 - 95% and I’m still experimenting with other foods.
