Stomach upset, loss of appetite and feeling sick and suspected heart failure

Does anyone get this? I have been feeling sick on and off, loss of appetite and general upset bowels for a few weeks now, I am waiting for the echo etc to diagnose suspected heart failure, I don’t know if the stomach/bowel problems I have could be part of it does anyone get this?

Thank you

All of the above. I go for another echo in a few weeks to be sure but GP says everyone’s like this at the moment with the heat and not to worry. Keep cool and stay hydrated.

Do you have a date for the echo? Are you on meds (when my GP suspected HF she put me on beta blocker 1.25mg and yes that can cause some of the symptoms you're describing)?

Have you considered booking a 'soon-as' ten minute consult with your GP to discuss your symptoms? What you've described can't be pleasant and your GP should know about it - if your GP thinks it could be your meds, those can be adjusted and you might experience near-immediate relief.

Hello Sunnie2day

I have contacted GP surgery to try and get an appointment but they are calling back. Our current surgery is been taken over tomorrow by another GP surgery so it’s a mess at present

I don’t think it’s anything to do with my heart problems but you never know, and yes you are right it’s not pleasant as today getting feinting spells and total sweats running all over my body

That sounds horrid and not made better by the surgery being taken over - hopefully they'll get you in quickly despite the upheaval. Please update as soon as you've seen the GP.

Hi Sunnie2day

Seen GP I have an Inner Ear Infection hence the sickness dizziness etc they gave me antibiotics let’s hope they work as I feel pretty awful

Thank you for your kind concern

SO glad to hear your condition wasn't heart related, and hopefully by now the antibiotics are doing the job of easing those symptoms!

Hi, I have syncope and what you describe is my version of it. I get it when I try to do too much too quickly. I do not have heart failure, I have paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation and tachycardia.

I also have SVT and AF but never had this before with it

Stomach pains started also I have contacted GP as I suppose could be anything as I think we often assume it’s to do with our heart problems

Thank you

Hi lilymeg. How do you treat your syncope?

I actually can't tell you because I'm on a multitude of pills for different things. However, in April a neurologist took one look at my list of prescriptions and stated that I was on far too many tablets. My consultation ended with my walking out with another prescription, for Gabapentin. She prescribed it for my fibromyalgia but the most effective use it has been to me is to stopped the heaving and vomiting caused by my syncope. Now if I have syncope, which is not as frequent, I have a little nausea, head stinging sweating and may have to head for the nearest loo, as well as as rest. The cardiologist prescribed meds I take are propranolol, spironalactone, frusemide, rivaroxaban, and ivabradine.

Your last post said you were going to see GP - this was a month ago - are you ok?

Hello

I have been really busy going to hospitals for appointments and worn just exhausted and wanted to post but just shattered every night

I have been diagnosed with HF moderate due to 2 leaky heart valves and I also have a largish hole in the heart and my AF/Artrial flutter is now persistent

So under HF nurse and 2 consultants at My heart hospital Barts.

Been finding it hard to get my head around it,

I have a pacemaker and had SVT/AF for years but with the HF as well I am exhausted most days after work

I know that I will have to undergo more ops it’s just the wait and seeing so all the different consultants waiting for them and for decisions etc

I am taking water tablets now which has helped my stomach as I was holding fluid in my abdomen

Thank you for your kind concern

Thanks for making the effort to reply. Looks like you’re being taken seriously and are going to get “fixed” although the wait is annoying. I’m in a similar situation, had checks on my heart to rule out heart problems and prove symptoms were only digestion-related and they actually revealed arteries problem, so, like you, I’m waiting for the call for an op.

Be kind to yourself and take it easy, it’s really surreal being given the diagnosis, all the time thinking “surely not”, but I’m finding I’m coming to terms with it now.

Very best wishes
