Magnesium supplements

I’ve had PAF for a year now that is reasonably controlled on Diltiazem & Flecanide. I still get odd thumps / bumps etc which I assume are some sort of ectopics as I feel ok … but just a bit unnerving.

I remember there was talk on this forum of magnesium supplements. Anyone take it & is it ok with my combination of meds. Which is the best one to take & which dose?

Does anyone have any links that could be useful to read about it. 😊

Thank you very much.

I would ask your GP first for a blood test to check your magnesium level

just be careful. I got over the counter supplements and although I am strong as an ox, I had sickness and diarrhoea from them. Also very top dose for women is apparently 300mg and I had inadvertently overdosed which can be fatal. Best consult your doctor.

always check with a pharmacist before adding any supplements to your regular medication - they are the people who are best placed to advise what might interact with other medication

there is all sorts of information available about magnesium supplementation and it is important to get advice from a reliable source as you can end up paying a lot for supplements which are inneffeective, have unpleasant side effects or (at worst) can be dangerous

Magnesium chloride is a good one, it is basically transdermal magnesium . You can get it as a body spray or massage oil or as bath salts to have in the bath or foot bath. The bath salts are cheaper than the spray.
