Debating on ordering a kardia device to capture a fluttering palpitation feeling rather than waiting another 7 months for an ecg.I wondered if in the UK our GPs or consultants accept the readings…

Hi blondie , there are a lot of people that use and rate the kardia device highly and I remember at the very beginning capturing an episode on an app on my phone and showing my gp it , and that's what started the process of finding out about atrial fibrillation and eventually the treatment needed..I would say it would be a good idea and help your gp see what it is that's happening , especially if you have been told 7 months to wait for an ecg...that seems a very long time just for an ecg...

I am currently under a cardiologist consultant at the moment. Due to next speak end of the month. Every contact on my journey has been about 6-7 months from a test then a result so its all very slow going. I have already had a 24 hour ecg a year ago but didnt have an ‘episode’ during that fitting, so was hoping perhaps a kardia device could help speed it all up

Yes and it would give you the option of catching an episode as well for sure which can only be a good thing and help the consultant to see what's going on...

I saw the cardiology registrar in July, I had said that my BP monitor could pick up on an arrthymia but he dismissed that saying it wasn't accurate enough. He mentioned Kardia to me, so I bought the 6 lead version. I got mine from the BHF online shop, it arrived inside a week.

That sounds great. Do you have the link to the BHF online shop?

Sorry no, I just googled the British Heart Foundation, their website came up with the online shop. I had checked first that I could download the Kardia App so I knew it would work with my smartphone. I haven't signed up for the Kardia service. I bought the 6 lead as it gives more detail to those people who can read ECGs as it looks like things other than AF are going on with my heart.Never a problem capturing AF on ECG done by medical people, more of a problem for me to prove I am still in NSR most of the time.

Realistically they should do as the Kardia device is now one that you can be given by your treatment team to help manage your assessment and symptoms on the NHS, especially in England.Sometimes , a more out dated GP or Consultant needs reminding of that fact in the most polite way possible, if you know what I mean !😉

It helps if you have some print offs of results from specific instances to show them , not just the info on your device because some also find it easy to follow or are more willing to look at it on paper.

Apple Watch ECG app (Series 4 & later) is a 2-lead equivalent ECG that produces a 30 second pdf file that I showed to consultant who was able to interpret what was going on. Also have AliveCor Kardia 6-lead equivalent device that is even better but not always to hand like the watch.
