CT Angio update, a most nervous patient lol

Just on way home from latest test, a CT contrast angiogram, took 2 injections of metoprolol on top of my oral meds to control pulse as I was in high anxiety mode even tho have had 2 previous other CTs in past 3 months, then at last minute reprieved from the gtn spray when they realised aortic stenosis patients arent supposed to have it and Ive a strong history of chronic migraines, the final part of actual dye and scan was all over in a flash but there was a lot of prep and questionsFollowed during recovery by a delicious medicinal coffee and biccies

Thank you JR Oxford the CT staff in AMIICC were WONDERFUL

Oh no; that was a bit of a palava to get it done, you poor thing. You got through it in the end though, so well done you. They really should have done their homework to know what you couldn't have. Thankfully it's done now and fingers crossed for you that the results are positive x

Glad it's over. I also suffer from terrible anxiety. Yes you are lucky to be treated at the JR; it and the Churchill are wonderful. God bless.

you did very well are you already taking the metropol as you say they gave you two injections I am asking as I am a anxious person to I already take bisoprolol 1.25; just wandering how much extra you get to lower the pulse mine goes up at hospital and doctors

Hi TinkerIm currently on bisoprolol 3.75mg am then 1.25 teatime as most of my funny turns are in night

Im.struggling with it as id been 40yrs on propanonlol which was withdrawn replaced by bis BUT GP now tells me Bis is a more "heart specific" betablocker and less effective on anxiety symptoms

NOT helpful !

Yday at home my pulse was in the 60s by time I was on scannerbed 94 and up, hence 2 metoprolol injections, BP was also pretty high, in the end they decided to try the scan as BP was coming down and pulse i could feel slowing eventually but wasnt a nice feeling, the dye part not as bad this time ive had 3 cts now so im getting used to it

BUT then at bedtime got my first dizzy spinny, unsteady migraine ive had since July, took 4 hrs before I could try to lie down and sleep, maybe from all the days stress so got 2 hrs sleep last night no wonder today im really tired lol

my doctor as been trying to get me to take bisoprolol for ages not due to anxiety but heart rate going up even though it was under a hundred mostly but anxiety goes up. I am asthmatic too so don’t think I could tolerate a higher dose.I tend to get headaches mainly from my jaw. Arthritis that’s another issue. No fun getting old is it. I am waiting for an echo I was borderline heart failure. 3 years ago. I think my heart has worsened getting symptoms of heart failure not bad there trying to get my blood pressure lower it’s ok at present. Also take 5mg amlodapine I am dreading if I have to have a ct scan as my heart rate like yours be bad they will have to give me something else to lower it
