Heart block/wenckebach

Hi. I'm knew here, just been diagnosed with second degree heart block and wenckebach. Not 100% sure what that is. GP tried to explain but felt like a rabbit caught in headlights. Doctor said I need to see a cardiologist but that's not until January as that's the only time available on line. Worried is not the word. Is it life threatening. Plus I've high blood pressure and on tablets for that! Thanks for reading my message x

No it's not life threatening, it's usually benign and doesn't need treatment, my Cardiologist diagnosed me and sent me on my way ! However if you are getting symptoms such as fainting then treatment may be needed, don't worry 😊

Hi.

Please don’t over worry, difficult I know. This isn’t life threatening, symptoms may can be uncomfortable.

I was diagnosed with intermittent 2nd degree heart block on 1st August this year, was getting very breathless and having funny turns dizzy etc. Never passed out myself.

Had a pace maker fitted four weeks ago. Things are going in the right direction for me, funny turns and dizzy spells gone.

Similarly as the other guy says you may find you don’t need any intervention at this stage.

But please don’t get over stressed there are worse things that could be wrong.

Good luck keep us updated

Many thanks for replying. Glad you're well on your way to recovery. I've managed to get an earlier appointment, this Thursday in fact. It's good to know there are other people out there with similar problems to help others and that you're not alone.

Hi Scarlett, I'm going through investigations for the same thing. Just had my pre op meeting yesterday so am waiting for a date to fit a loop recorder.

I was shocked and in disbelief really when they thought heart block was the problem. Wenckebach is the name of the guy who first noticed it and its also called mobitz 1 (I think).

I've had a few faints so am off driving. random dizzyness, spinning vision, nausea are a few of the mild symptoms I feel but am keeping active getting out on fells and bike quite a bit.

I've got a post up which you can look for which has some great replies from bantam, kimkat and others that you might find of interest.

It was such a relief for me just knowing that theres other folks at various stages with positive stories to share on this forum.

All the best with that. It is such a relief to be able to talk about it and have an understanding into various conditions. I'm seeing a cardiologist today so we will see what the next step is if anything.

My daughter 34 was diagnosed with this last year after experiencing occasional palpitations. She had a 24 hour EKG halter monitor after which she was told it was a benign arrhythmia and needed no treatment as long as she had no other symptoms.
