You need a pacemaker if you are dizzy and blacking out, has this not been suggested ?

I have 2nd degree block and had my pacemaker fitted last year, it's made a huge diffence in stopping the pauses that cause the dizziness however I'm still suffering with awful ectopics and svt, change of meds is hopefully sorting that !

By the way you can't drive if you are passing out and DVLA will need to know at some point, your doc should have told you this.

Hi yes I have my pacemaker fitted at the beginning of October.

I’m finding it difficult without the car, I’m trying to exercise a little but it makes me short of breath and get pains down my left side but I also suffer with chronic migraine and this causes dizziness and confusion, I forget where I am and my children’s names etc.

I need help with forms for pip etc, it’s seems there’s no help out there.

But are you blacking out even with the pacemaker ? If yes then something isn't right, you need a pacing check and settings changed asap.

Sorry my mistake I thought you had it already. As you are struggling to cope you could try calling to see if they can fit you in sooner. You will notice a huge difference once it's in but there's not really much you can do in the mean time other than take it easy.

I was also diagnosed with heart block last October after blacking out whilst actually driving. I’d had dizzy spells and fluttering in my chest before but never took any notice of it. I had to stay in hospital while waiting for various scans , and then the pacemaker was fitted . It took a bit of getting used to but eventually felt a lot better , it needed the settings tweaking a few months ago which has really helped. I’m now exercising in the gym and feeling pretty good. Hopefully once you get your pacemaker fitted things will settle down for you . I didn’t drive for a month afterwards but I believe the dvla say a week but I didn’t really feel like driving so left it.

Same as me but I blacked out walking up the stairs, I get fluttering in my chest everyday. I hope it fixes me, I have been suffering for over 15 yrs b4 diagnosis, which is a disgrace really, if my cardiologist hadn’t requested a heart monitor I would still be in the dark as to what it is, does it bug u having a foreign object imbedded under your skin?

Hi yes I told my cardiologist and thats when he had me fitted with a heart monitor in March just got results at the end of July, it’s steadily getting worse, I can’t walk very far without getting breathless, pains in chest on and off throughout the day, tired all the time, I’ve read this about them keeping people in, in severe cases but I hate hospitals so I’d rather wait at home, not long now scheduled for the procedure on the 4th Oct, just worried I won’t be able to tolerate a foreign object under my skin

Had my PM for coming up 8 years due to 3rd Degree HB.It's never caused me any real problems, got used to it fairly quickly. Other than a small bump and scar from the insertion, you wouldn't know I had one.

My heart sometimes misbehaves, so have had settings changed occasionally, now 100% reliant on it.

I was sort of fortunate that I ended up in AE so once they admitted me everything done during my 15 day stay , I was even taken up to the royal Brompton for an mri of my heart as they suspected another condition that I didn’t know I had which was , Non compaction . Eventually they fitted a dual pacemaker. It took a bit of getting used to , especially at night as it was sore while everything was healing. It certainly doesn’t bug me at all , I’m very grateful to have it and the little bit of discomfort is a small price to pay for feeling so much better. Hopefully once yours is fitted you will be able to have a better quality life. But give it time as initially I felt awful but I think some of that was in my head.

Thanks for advice, I feel a bit better about now, I’m glad your doing well

Hi, did your brother have a temp pm attached to his neck?

I had one put there, and was convinced it wasn't real, mind it didn't help I was in critical care, drugged up to the eyeballs. It was surreal looking back now, like sci-fi.
