I have an artificial aortic valve that replaced a bicuspid valve that was calcified in 2020. I had ZERO physical stamina after the operation and it never really came back anywhere near the levels it was at before. I have trouble describing it, but after walking just a block or so I feel like I need to sit down and rest for a while. So at my last visit to the cardiologist, he did an electrocardiogram and said it looks like my heart isn't relaxing as much as it should between beats, and this medication is supposed to help that. Normally it's prescribed for congestive heart failure, but he said my heart "looks great". Anyhow, I've read some scary reviews of it online so I was just wondering if anybody on here has tried it and how that went for them. I'm in Dallas, so not sure you have it in the UK, or it might have a different name. Thanks!

I’m in England and I take it. Over here it’s called forxiga or dapagliflozin. It removes glucose when you urinate. The doctor who put me on it kept insisting I keep down below clean back and front, which I do daily anyway, because it could cause thrush and other things. Reading the leaflet that comes with it is ver frightening. I’ve been taking it since last year October. After a few months I noticed I’m losing weight, which is a good thing.

But I do understand what you’re saying because at first I was scared to take it, but it’s a part of the cocktail of drugs I take for heart failure and I’m comfortable taking it now. I even forget about the possible dangerous side effects.

Okay thanks! Seems like my doctor might have mentioned that it helps with weight loss and I have lost a few pounds but I think it's just coincidence as I've only taken 4 pills so far. I recently moved and just started using the pool here last week, which keeps me away from my fridge and more frequent snacking!

It’s not coincidence and swimming is a good exercise so keep doing it.

Hi Deejay. I was prescribed Farxiga today. One of the top Cardiology hospitals in the U.S. says it is one of the 4 meds that are the new cocktail that’s the cat’s meow. But reading reviews makes me hesitant. Are you still doing ok with it? Cheers.

Awesome! May I please ask what the symptoms are of improved heart function from your perspective ? Btw, for what it’s worth I read many frightening reviews on WebMD. All the best.

For me my breathing is a little better, a lot less fluid build up, especially in my stomach and chest, and my heart function improved from 10% to 23%. It’s still not a lot but I have dilated cardiomyopathy which has progressed to cause heart failure, low kidney function and pulmonary hypertension.

LOL, No, I don't swim. I just lay in the pool with my library book on the edge and read it because it's too hot in Dallas (at least for me) to not be in the water.

I do like to swim laps when I can, but have been unable to find a pool suitable for that in Dallas that isn't too far away.
