I was referred to cardiology for a leaky heart valve after an echocardiogram.
I saw a consultant today. He said everyone has leaky valves and I have nothing to worry about, that my echo results are normal.
Has anyone else experience of this?

Yes, exactly the same thing. Nothing to worry about. I walk 7 miles daily. No problem.
That’s such good news. You must be relieved. I was told in April my MV regurgitation had gone from moderate to severe. This week cardio nurses said they would have described it as mild to moderate but then detected a second slight leak. Consultant on holiday so no update from him yet but at appointment with him before recent tests, he prescribed monitoring every 6 months and bisoporol at 2.5 . I have no symptoms and exercise regularly . Interesting that there can be such a variation in interpreting echo results. At 75 I’m going with how I feel 😍
Same here, seems a very common finding on echo. Been walking 5 miles daily fpr last 10 years and diagnosed with same then. Had several echos since and its not even mentioned now. Enjoy your life as you are fine.
Thanks everyone.
I'm not an expert, but have a small amount of experience. My MV regurgitation was moderate to severe last year, now severe and I am on the waiting list for surgery. The diagnosis really serves to confirm how I feel. I am getting short of breath quite quickly now, with sharp pains and a tight chest more often. I think that is the key to it; if you feel ok, I would be happy to know that it is being monitored, and you are in the system and in good hands. I would be surprised if you don't have a follow up scan. And I would be happy not to be facing OHS.All the best.
I have one and only yesterday during a follow up call after my ablation in May cardiologist also said it’s common in the general population also have it, I exercise 3 two hourly sessions in the gym a week and never felt so well
I was diagnosed with a leaky aortic valve at 16, I was also told that it was very common and that most people never know they have a leak. I was told to get on with my life and not worry about it. They monitored me yearly and I eventually had to have the valve replaced at 52.
