Feeling overwhelmed

Hi was just wondering if anybody knows why my cardiologist told me to make a appointment with a nurse practitioner at my gp surgery 2 weeks after being put on spironolactone and entresto, I was overwhelmed at the time and can't remember the reason for seeing the nurse, thank you

This is probably to ensure that the Meds are not causing significant side effects. Pretty routine checks.

Hello :-)

I agree with ChoochSiesta it will be no doubt to see how you are getting on with the medications they have put you on which is a good thing that they are giving you this appointment so they can see how you are getting on :-) x

Simple really, just phone and ask them! They will understand its sometimes a lot to take in.

Perhaps to check for side effects and for blood tests, though these would be done by phlebotomist

I agree that it may well be blood tests to ensure meds are not negatively effecting your liver etc. If so, its VERY common that this is done.

They like to see how you are doing on the meds. Both spiro and entresto can cause side effects. They may take BP etc. They should take blood tests too.

Hello Elephantfan,

I take both meds you mentioned and especially with entresto you need to have your blood pressure monitored to see if you tolerate it.

You should also have liver and kidneys functions checked every 6 -8 months to make sure they don’t cause any damage.

So the nurse appointment is pretty standard, just take the chance to ask whatever curiosity you have and I suggest if you have any other doubts or fears ask the professionals 😉

This is routine to check kidney function as this can be affected by both these drugs.

Hi you will probably need blood tests to check liver and kidneys I am just on my 4th prescription for entresto but the first three I had from the hospital I had to go for a blood test before my next appointment.
