I had to wait 4 months for mine on the NHS. I also did a similar test privately which took place within a month.

All the best.

Thank you for reply Tos92,they wanted to do an angiogram the day after I was diagnosed with unstable angina, but I'm allergic to the contrast dye.It just seems strange now they have left the test they can do for over a month and longer if I'm the same as you.I'm rattling with pills though!!Hope they solved your problems.x

I don’t get on well with the contrast dye that contains iodine so I can’t say I blame you. I remember the side effects I had to it were not very pleasant. Perhaps give the cardiology department a call tomorrow morning and see if they can provide you with a rough time on how much longer the wait is x

I found the contrast dye almost enjoyable compared to the stress test - possibly not what you wanted to hear. With the contrast you seem to warm up very quickly, consider you may have wet yourself (!) then it’s over as fast as it started. Off the scanner and quickly back to normal.

With the stress test I found it quite uncomfortable as your cardiac system is getting quite a work out, it took me a while before I was composed and left the hospital.

I’m 48 never been opened up and never actually discounted I’ve had heart failure, yet I’m under a heart failure clinic in London after local hospital referral. First round of tests/scans/investigation was 2 years of chasing up and calling PALS (patient liaison service, your hospital with have one) now Ive been forwarded to a London hospital things move very quickly. Exactly the same NHS sadly 😢

Hi, each hospital and trust is different. If I were you I would ask whoever referred you for the test and then ask if there is anywhere else with a shorter list. My hubby was told 45 weeks so we decided to pay private, but I know not everyone has that option. Good luck.

You can ring the appts office at the hospital and ask how long the waiting list is and where you you are on the list. They are usually happy to give an estimated time scale for you to get an appt.

Thank you all so much for replies.I had contrast dye,but had allergic reaction to it where my tongue swelled and got hives, luckily still at hospital but marked on my files that I can't have it again.Very nervous about having different stuff injected just incase it happens again. In two minds just to stick with medication and take my chances, you all seem so young like poor Roughquest just in his 40s,I'm 70 now so I'm lucky to have had a healthy heart until now.Take care everyone and thanks for taking time to answer.x

I was referred for a myocardial perfusion scan, stress test one week, rest test the following week.It was 6 weeks from referral to test, I do have symptoms that they find quite worrying, and every health area is different.

It was all explained beforehand, I had BP monitoring and ECG before, during and after the stress agent was administered, they were with me all the time, not left alone.

It's a weird sensation but only lasts 2 minutes, they tell you what to expect.

After that they gave me the radioactive isotope, and just over an hour later they did the scan.

I found I had one or two little niggles, nothing to take any notice of.

I'm happy to share my experience if it helps, just ask. The best advice I can offer is to tell them any concerns you have, they can't reassure you if they don't know what you're worrying about.

Thank you so much for your reply,it has put my mind at rest,I will speak to them about my fears,no appointment has come through yet.Hope you are keeping well and they found something on test to help you.
