My husband has been fighting a uti infection for 3 weeks now and infection seems to be clearing now but still has a fever so consultant has ordered a blood culture to check for if it has gone into blood stream.

Thank you worried

Hello :-)

I am so sorry your Husband has had a UTI that has got so bad and how worried this is making you feel which is understandable

The blood culture test is normal in circumstances like this and it is good that they are doing it if it had started going into his blood stream they could start treating it straight away

He is in the right place and they are taking good care of him focus on those positive thoughts and him getting better so you can both start having some good times back in your life and you will :-)

Look after yourself to and let us know how he gets on :-) x

Hi just an update my hubby came out of hospital on Tuesday the third antibiotic they tried seemed to work. His blood cultures came back ok. He went for a ct scan on his kidneys etc yesterday so we are awaiting the results as he was referred by locom gp out of hours to get a 2 week referral at hospital for cancer checks. Im getting so anxious its the waiting for results that are the hardest thing 😬 Hope you are keeping ok

Hello :-)

Well on a positive his Blood Cultures came back ok and he is out of Hospital which must be nice for you both :-)

It is always easy for someone else to say and I know harder when these things are happening to you but think again at least they are doing all these tests on him and if they did find something they could start treating it quick and just maybe they will all come back clear

I do understand though I hate tests but I always say waiting for the results is even worse then I give myself a talking to telling myself worrying is not going to change whatever the results are but again I know easier said than done as I struggle with that sensible thinking :-)

Thank you for asking if I am ok I have had a better few weeks than I have been having but hopefully things will improve :-)

Let us know how his tests results go and enjoy him been at home with you :-) x

Hello. I had blood cultures done in ICU two weeks ago. It is a great idea to make sure your heart is safe. I understand that it can take UP to five days for the culture to show the type of infection and where it is. I had six bottles taken from three different locations. Very thorough. ❤️❤️
