hi. I am 57 year old male. Had angioplasty with 2 stents. Recovering well. It’s been 4 weeks now I am feeling chills or little cold. But no fever. What can be the reason. MEDICATION??

When I used to take Atorvastatin I used to feel cold. It was a pleasant side effect. Unfortunately I had other less pleasant ones so stopped the statins and wasn’t cold any more.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

In relation to feeling cold the main comments u have heard/seen are cold hands and feet from beta blockers and feeling cold all over with blood thinners. Personally I have never suffered these side effects and last wore gloves about five years ago.

Hi pal had mine last oct and was the same for a few weeks , all in all I reckon it took me 7 months or so to fully get used to my meds etc Take care

It sounds like it might be the beta blocker. My Raynauds (white cold numb fingers and toes) got worse when I was prescribed a beta blocker. I am now on the minimum dose of beta blocker and I take other medication to overcome the problems I experience.

Don't know what meds you are taking? After my heart attack and stents I was this prescribed:

Aspirin

Bisoprolol

Ramipril

Ticagrelor

Statin

With Bisoprolol I found I always felt colder especially my feet brrr 🥶

Anyway keep an eye on your symptoms, if you develop a fever call your GP in case they is another cause for your fever, infection somewhere in your body or just flu symptoms 👍 Stay safe and hope your recovery goes well Niki 👌👍

And remember your body went through a big change because of your Artery blockage and allow yourself to adjust to medication and back to work eventually 👍 I was off 8 weeks and then gradually went back to work!😁

The only pain in the backside was not allowed to drive for 4 weeks after my Angioplasties, first 1 after my heart attack, 2 then, 3 weeks later another stent 👌

I never was so glad to sit in my car, drive to go shopping and later to work again !

The only good blessing we have, we got away with stents Niki 😁😅

Thanks for your reply. Even I am on similar medications. Feeling cold on my legs only. Now I go to work from 1pm to 5 pm.

You are right.Dr said it’s 6 week protocol to take it easy. I only go half day , and don’t take any stress. Thanks for your advice 👍

Well slowly back to work is good! It will be the Bisoprolol making your legs feel cold Niki 👌

Problem I have still in my left thigh that I have a 13 cm, over 5 inches long blockage of my femoral artery 👍

MRI was done June 2019 but the consultant said I wasn't bad enough yet! UNBELIEVABLE 😏☹️

So yes I am kind of struggling when walking outside and often get pains in my left calf, it is inhibiting me quite a bit really! Walking in town or going for walks with my family is very tiring!

The Bisoprolol I literally stopped myself after 2 years! I used to take it in the morning, then I tried taking it in the evening but it made no difference! 👍 Forever I was totally exhausted after work and sleepy at home! Then I started measuring my heart rate and it dropped down to 48, 46, in the early morning! Too low, cause I was tired and sleepy 👌

For me personally I stopped my perscibed statin as well!

Researched my statin on a UK medical site and was horrified that I was prescribed that!

Okay for a year after my heart attack, I accept that! But taking this lifelong, BIG NO FOR ME!

Total contra-indication for people with vascular disease to take statin 👌

Everyone is reacting differently to heart meds, some good, some not so good Niki!

My youngest brother suffered a heart attack when he was 50 years old and he needed a quadruple heart by-pass! He didn't smoke, drink heavily, still don't understand why he had one 🤷

But some of his medications, he doesn't need to take them any more! But he's keeping himself fit in proportion!

Life hey people, one minute you are okay , then suddenly, KaBOOM 💥, you are not 👌

❤️ Hearts, Liver and Kidneys important organs!

Life goes array when one misbehaves 😏😁

As long as we are still alive let's make each day count and special if possible! 🙏

Niki glad to have made your aqaintance on our heart forum!

Don't rush your recovery, don't take on more hours until you feel strong enough!👌

To really feel back to normal it took me 8 months, then I slowly felt I was properly alive again!

Then 2020 Covid Lockdown, laid on ice again... Crazy times!

But we are alive and talking to each other here, love Health unlock forums here! I have retired end of July so have more time now again, and that's good 👌🙏

Better go as it's nearly 21 pm

God bless and Goodnight all 🌇🌇🌇

Hi Nikinromantic

Yes, it might be the medications, but ..........

After I had stents fitted, I had feelings of coldness and, perhaps because it was winter, I felt the cold badly; particularly in my throat and chest. Several years later, I am still cold intolerant, but it happens much less freqently now.

I was told by a nurse that it's part of having heart issues for some people, and to wrap up well when I go out. For me, the answer was a hot drink and a scarf for me to breath through.

Problem with heart disease imho, is that we tend to blame the medication far too quickly for unwanted side-effects.

As I said above, we are different people reacting to some medication, so either doctor has to find alternatives or stop the medication/s altogether! I still get cold feet faster then I used to but not as bad as 2 years ago 👌 But that works for me and it doesn't work for everyone Henry!

Anyway rest up and enjoy the rest of your evening Henry 🙏👌🌇

Do you take bisoprolol? I'm convinced it contributes to chilly extremities as I've reduced my dose it's less pronounced
