SALT!

After my heart attack in November 2021 I completely changed my diet and exercise regime. I now eat mostly fish and vegetables with a treat maybe once a month. I have absolutely no issues with my BP and do not take any medication for my BP but I do however take 1.25 bisoprolol 2 x per day. I do know that this has an effect on BP and HR. I check my BP on a daily basis and it is always around 110/70 ish. I have introduced some salt back into my diet for the past few weeks and I have not seen any effect on my BP. I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this and has it had an effect on anything 🤔

We need salt to live. High blood pressure is a symptom of a larger problem, and for many with cardiovascular disease it is metabolic dysfunction through an overconsumption of carbohydrates. This causes the kidneys to retain too much sodium resulting in high blood pressure. The body no longer expels excess sodium efficiently.

If your blood pressure is fine then personally I wouldn't worry at all about salt intake, but it is probably worth discussing it with your GP before making major changes.
