3 weeks ago I was admitted to A&E in ambulance with severe central chest pain

I was informed I was having a heart attack and admitted to CCU

3 days later transferred to Coventry UHT hospital underwent angioplasty procedure as one coronary artery was 99% blocked Cardiologist explained 2 others were 70% occluded and one was very poor and thus I was unsuitable for coronary artery bypass op

3 days later discharged on numerous meds and the following Tuesday was taken back to A& E as an emergency with nasal haemorrhage - finally ceased after 2 hours sent home

A week later same as above but 100% worse haemorrhaging from both nostrils huge clots forming etc etc Ambo took me back to A&E where I sat bleeding for 6 hours and eventually one side nose stopped and finally the other side

I made appt to see a GP at our surgery and finally managed a face to face this Wednesday - she had already made contact with the Local hospital,Cardiologist and was informed I must continue with all meds prescribed

my body doesn’t do well on any drugs - it took 2 years for my then GP to find a BP med that I could tolerate without horrendous side effects

thus now on 6 different drugs and my normal BP med doubled I feared the worst ie my body reacting in particular to Clopodrgel and Aspirin

My question to everyone is

has anybody suffered like this following heart attack and angioplasty and by continuing as advised on q blood thinners did the nasal bleeding ever stop. Currently I’m having a bleed everyone days

these past two days I’ve had dull ache in chest - my pulse is 55bpm and BP normal and I’m now worried my anxiety has returned

any help would be immensely appreciated. As no call back from GP and I am concerned this new chest pain might be another heart attack

apologies for the long winded story but I don’t know what else to do

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this.

I can’t advise on the blood thinners’ side of things, but I will say that any new chest pain needs investigation. It is hard to differentiate between anxiety and angina sometimes however, given that you have heart history, it is safer to call 111 or pay a visit to the emergency department at the hospital.

Keep a log of your symptoms and any triggers which you feel make the chest pain worse. This can be useful information to present to your GP and cardiologist.

If you feel that it is anxiety, breathing techniques, yoga and meditation are all great in helping to relieve some of the symptoms that come from anxiety. YouTube videos are easily available on how to perform these as well.

I hope others come by with some useful suggestions.

Thank you so much. The local hospital has outbreak of Norovirus so decided I should stay put as I was informed by Ambo guy unless you are dying etc they’re not taking patients in so see GP

I had a nose bleed some time back that put me in for 3 days (apparently my daily prescription nasal was thinning the walls of my nose), what they did was chemical cauterisation, stopped it dead and never came back. Perhaps ask your GP about that option?

Thank you. Been there and saw ENT Consultant. All ok no issues suggested it’s the reaction I’m having to blood thinner drug 🤷😔

Have you asked to be referred to an Ear Nose and throat specialist? They can perform the cauterisation of the blood vessels as Etzel suggests.

Been up that route. ENT Specialist examined everywhere up the nozzle and said no problems at all go back to cardiologist as she has seen this issue before with patients on blood thinners 😩. Thank you for your kind suggestion

hi. As a result of having my nose broken as a toddler (and resulting problems) I’ve had lots of cauterisations over the years and they’ve always worked. Our local hospital has an emergency ENT clinic where you can be referred to by A&E or your GP. They can carry out cauterisations. I would check to see if any of the hospitals in your region have this. Ours is open 24 hours a day.

thank you. I went up that route after first nasal haemorrhage a couple of weeks after discharge following angioplasty and all is normal they said referred me back to Cardiology as the anti platelet drugs ie blood thinner was deemed to be the cause. Thank you so much for your response to my post 😄
