Dear Yellow731

Your GP surgery may well have a person to advise on medications. Your chemist or pharmacist will certainly have such a person. Do go and see one or the other. That’s a lot of tablets and maybe they need a lot of consideration. In particular, the inter action of the drugs. And the relevance of when you take them.

Good idea. Do ask for an appointment. There will then be a proper consultation, not just across the counter.

Hello :-)

I am on some of the meds you are on some I do not have to take now like the ticagrelor

I think when I did take it though I took it in a Morning does it say on the box when to take it ?

Like you I take my PPI as soon as I get up and then about an hour later I take Bisoprolol and a couple more can't remember the names

To help my stomach I take my Aspirin after I have eaten at lunch time

Then about 7 at night I take another BP tablet and then at 10 at night I take my statin

That is just how I do it and believe I was told to

When you left Hospital with the discharge letter did they give you a sheet with your medications on and when they needed to be taken they did me and I have always just stuck with that what it said but if you did not get one then it should say on the boxes when to take them

Failing all that phone your Chemist up they are very good and tell them when you are taking them if they think any would be better taken at a different time of the day they will advise you :-) x

I take eleven tablets every morning after breakfast plus Insulin then 3 more after tea plus Insulin with no problems

yellow731 profile image
yellow731 in reply toEthel14

Do you take them all together ?

Ethel14 profile image
Ethel14 in reply toyellow731

All my tablets are for life, just seen my gp increased my Ivabradine to 5mg morning and 2.5mg evening as I’m still short on breath after my second heart attack, they’re keeping me alive so down the hatch they go.

Take care 👍

Yes

that’s the same as my husband takes them

yellow731 profile image
yellow731 in reply toHare123

Does he take all in one go ?

Hare123 profile image
Hare123 in reply toyellow731

Yes, he takes omeprazole first, hour or so later takes his morning tablets after he’s had breakfast, all of them at same time, then before bed takes the remaining. He recently stopped the ticagrelor as only had to take for a year, but the other meds are the same

yellow731 profile image
yellow731 in reply toHare123

Oh thats good then, and well done on your husband reaching a year will he be coming of other tablets soon ?

Hare123 profile image
Hare123 in reply toyellow731

As far as we know the rest are staying the same, for now at least. We were told the ezitembe, atorvastatin and aspirin will be for life. Hope you are getting on ok with the meds, my husband had a few issues along the way and had to have some doses reduced due to side effects

yellow731 profile image
yellow731 in reply toHare123

If im honest i dont know if im getting side effects as i quick smoking after 37years day of HA so had the nicotine withdrawals aswell, yes i been told a few will be life, but i couldnt remember which ones

Hare123 profile image
Hare123 in reply toyellow731

Well done on the quitting smoking, that’s really good 😊. The issues he had were really low blood pressure which was having constant bad dizzy spells, so they reduced two of his meds, can’t remember which they were now, but ramipril was one of them. Hope you are recovering well

yellow731 in reply toHare123

Thank you it had to be done its a fair swap i think ,have to change my lifestyle ive had the warning, not had dizzy spells ,my blood pressure been ok but my rehab nurse said not to check it constant ,im recovering well walks are fine just last few days not been so good but we going to get them body is recovering and been through a lot

Hare123 profile image
Hare123 in reply toyellow731

Glad to hear you are getting on well, ups and downs seem very normal on the road to recovery. Have you started rehab classes yet? If you get offered them they can be really good

yellow731 profile image
yellow731 in reply toHare123

I take 8 in the morning and another 7 at night and just take them all at once with water. When I was in hospital I was being given them all in one little tub to take so assume it is all OK to continue taking them in one go.

yellow731 profile image
yellow731 in reply toCat04

Yes i got them all in hospital at same time so presumed the same

LouiseGardener profile image

I too was instructed from hospital to take in morning with no other directions than that. I just had a consult with the clinical pharmacist from the GP surgery following my yearly blood test and he never discussed when or with what I should take my drugs so assume it’s not an issue to have them all at once or he would have said. I think an important part of taking meds is to keep to a consistent daily routine and if yours is to take them as you state then probably all OK. There probably is though best practice protocol for taking your meds and please post what you find out from your pharmacy consult for us all to see. Good luck.

Hi Yellow. The thing is not to be ruled by your tablet regime. Yes, they must be taken every day (or twice a day, whatever is prescribed), but try not to get worried about them. I’m on a similar list, 8 in the morning, 2 or 3 in the evening, but I take them all at the same time, not worrying about food. So I take the morning cocktail between 10 & 11am (I’m a night owl), before breakfast, and the evening cocktail between 10 & 11pm. But if it’s a couple of hours either side for some reason, it’s not the end of the world. My docs and pharmacist are happy with this as it’s a routine that works for me.

Note, I’m not on warfarin, but I believe you have to be slightly more careful with that.

yellow731 profile image
yellow731 in reply toAlison_L

Yes im a night owl to (but im of work at mo work the night shifts) not going to let them rule me ,i just take them get on with my day take them at night thats it ,it seems to be ok to take all in one go ,what is warfarin?

Alison_L profile image
Alison_L in reply toyellow731

Warfarin is a powerful anticoagulant, mainly used by hearties with a mechanical valve replacement. They have to be very careful with that.

Hi five years since HA and stent, take 7 tablets on a morning and 4 at night, take them all together both morning and night, never had any problems, hope this helps.

yellow731 profile image
yellow731 in reply toIslaGrace

HiThank you, i asked chemist today and they said its fine what im doing , did you have just the one stent ? What tablets are you still taking ?

IslaGrace profile image
IslaGrace

Hi, yes just the one stent in right artery, still have 70% blockage in left artery, controlled for the last five years by tablets. Here goes the list Aspirin, Ramipril, Rovustatin, Folic Acid, Ferrous Fumerate, Bisoprolol, Isosorbide Mononitrate, Omeprazole, Fluoxatine, GNT spray for angina, I have a chest condition for which I have a Ventolin Inhaler and an Ultibro Breezhaler. Some of the meds I take twice a day. Following HA I was on Ticragralor for a year, thankfully meds do the job they are meant to. I to did Rehab and found it extremely beneficial, just pace yourself, I’m sure once you start the classes you will be surprised how they help. Good luck to you

yellow731 profile image
