I had my operation on Thursday morning and today I am back on the ward, this after a short stay in ITU, both myself and the Drs were amazed a my recovery, considering I was very high risk. Fo me the answer was stopping smoking 9 weeks ago and the fact that the Drs had me for so long looking at me everyday.
To anyone else who is high risk make sure when you go in that you are satisfied with “everything before they start .if u feel they need to look at you more, you hey will, once your in your in. The only pain I have at the moment is being caused by the blood Drain they have left in, not from my heart. They said it could come ou yesterday but they forgot and now they won’t take it out till tomorrow I hope cos I can’t even cough.
Anyway bloody marvellous these people every single one of them, I’ve had 3.5 yrs of thinking one thing only and it doesn’t take much to think what that was, they got me through it I’ll do the rest

So pleased to hear from you and also to hear that all has gone well & to plan. There are many of us waiting to hear your news! Great you didn't need very long in ITU. Have they got you up and walking yet?
Was in ITU thurs pm and released to ward on Saturday morning ( considering high risk) I cannot walk far at the mo, not because of heart but because that still haven’t took the blood drain out of me chest which the Dr said it should have been done yesterday-short staffed!!!
That wasn't long at all in ITU (I was 4 days in ITU post op with my AVR) so you are doing brilliantly. Keep up the good work. Very best wishes for a speedy recovery now 😊
hi. I was just answering another post where someone was asking if there was any news. So pleased to hear that you are ok and that the op went well. Keep us updated with your progress. Xx
I'm so glad it went well, highburyted! Best wishes for a swift and full recovery from the surgery and fingers crossed you can be discharged from hospital fairly soon.
There have been a couple of posts all concerned and wondering how your op had gone and to be honest I never expected to see a post from you this soon you have done fantastic to be back on the ward already
I am so pleased for you I know this has been a long rollercoaster for you with a lot of anxiety and glad it is finally done with your efforts before the op and the wonderful surgeons you have had operate on you
I have no doubt now you have been given this second chance you will make the most of it and you will do everything you can to be the fittest you have ever been in a long time
Thank you for posting I think including me you will have made a lot of members happy to see your post x
Simply the best news.! Us hearties have been looking out for your post and thinking of you. It’s amazing that you were able to get back onto the ward so soon. So pleased for you. Gentle hugs your way 🤗🤗
Ahhh there you are Ted. Glad all went well. Yeah them blimin drains, they were nice getting out. I guess you may get to see the Arsenal game on MOTD tonight too Good Luck with your recovery. Stuart
Welcome back, Ted - everyone's been thinking about you. Great news about your op and that everything went so well - it's onwards and upwards from here! The very best of wishes for a speedy recovery. Carol
I'm overjoyed to hear your news .We all had our fingers crossed for you after following your hard journey, so I'm sure everyone will feel as happy as I do to hear about your success.
I was an inpatient for 10 days so was regularly monitored, tested, xrayed etc, so they knew everything about me in advance of the operation. Better than an outpatient who will have a much lower level of monitoring over a much shorter period.
Mind you, Ted has taken it to extremes with his long stay, moving in his furniture, putting up shelves and building a garden shed in the corner of the room. Will they ever get him out? Good luck Ted and keep us all informed.
Oh it's so good to hear from you and that it sounds like your operation all went well. Take care and hope you get home soon and complete your recovery. Brian
Great news and you sound uplifted and positive which will both aid your recovery. Even though there are problems in the health system that are frustrating, the dedication from staff and the absolute skills of surgeons can't be faulted and look where you are now....out of ICU in such a short time and back on the ward. All the best.... just do everything they tell you to do and you will be home in no time. Cheers
What great news. So pleased that the operation went well. Now you can focus on recovery, take it a day at a time and be kind to yourself - each day will be different. Wishing you a steady recovery 😀

This is excellent news! I was getting some worried while not hearing from you—but this news has made my day! 😃.
You will be leaving the hospital basically as a new man with a brand new chance at life! Be sure to make the most of that! You have already made changes that will impact you forever—quitting smoking being one and walking more being two. Just keep going!
Plus, your surgical team does deserve a huge pat on the back to each one of them! They sound amazing!
So glad for you Ted!’ All done and dusted now! Bet you will be doing the bedtime drinks ( do they still do that?? I can’t remember if they did when I was in in February !!). Take it slowly and keep yourself calm, and you will come through this well, like all of us before you. Shall look out for your updates. Take care 👏🏼💗
